Ori and the Will of the Wisps costs €29.99 on the Microsoft Store. This morning a key for it was €5.40 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€6.58 with fees) at Gamivo, the lowest price we've seen for this game on Xbox. Blasphemous and its sequel are also at their lowest right now, both under €6 with fees, and Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight goes for €1.76 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€2.45 with fees).
So this is a good week to fill the Xbox with metroidvanias. We've picked fourteen, from Hallownest to the Castlevania collections Konami put out on Xbox. Each one has an Xbox page on Gocdkeys with live offers. Review scores come from Steam, so they belong to the PC version, which is where most people leave one. Microsoft Store, reseller or shared account: which copy is yours
The Microsoft Store is the reference. You pay, the game goes to your Xbox account and there are no fees. The prices we quote are from the Spanish store. An Xbox Key from a reseller is a code you redeem on the console or at microsoft.com/redeem. Some are tied to a region: several of the cheapest keys below are sold as US codes, and redeeming one on a European account normally means switching your account region first. We say it every time an offer is marked that way. Others are European codes and give no trouble.
An Account is access to someone else's Microsoft account that already owns the game. It's often the cheapest option and we list it, but the game is never yours. We'd go for the key or the store. Historical medians and lows are quoted without fees or coupons.
Hollow Knight, Silksong, Ori and Dead Cells: where to start
Hollow Knight
Team Cherry's game is still the one everybody else gets measured against. In Hollow Knight you're a small masked bug going down into Hallownest, a ruined underground kingdom. You won't even have a map until you find the cartographer and buy his. The bosses are hard, the charms let you build around your own style, and the world keeps opening up for dozens of hours. On Steam it's Overwhelmingly Positive, 96% of 503,620 reviews, the biggest number in this guide.
We don't have the Microsoft Store price for this one. The cheapest key is at Eneba, €8.91 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€10.22 with fees). It's listed as the Voidheart Edition and as a US code, so check the region; Eneba also sells a European one for a little more. That's 7% below the usual €9.59 for a key, though it's been cheaper on 49 of the 150 days we've tracked, and the low was €5.41 on 20 May. Difmark's account costs €1.25 with coupon Gocdkeys (€1.31 with fees).
Hollow Knight: Silksong
The sequel arrived just over a year ago and swaps the knight for Hornet, who gets dragged to Pharloom and has to climb the kingdom up to a citadel at the top. Hollow Knight: Silksong is faster and more acrobatic than the first game, and many players find it harder. Very Positive, 89% of 387,544 reviews.
The Microsoft Store asks €19.99. Gamivo has a PC and Xbox key for €6.37 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€7.58 with fees), sold as a US code. That's a big saving on the store, but not a good price for this key: it was cheaper on 164 of the 172 days we've followed it, and on 25 August it hit €3.87. Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Moon Studios' sequel, published by Xbox Game Studios, sends Ori to Niwen to look for Ku, the owlet from the first game. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the prettiest game here and the one with the most fluid movement, with far more combat than the original. Overwhelmingly Positive, 96% of 136,080 reviews.
This is the clearest buy of the lot. €29.99 on the Microsoft Store, and €5.40 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€6.58 with fees) for a European PC and Xbox key at Gamivo. We've never seen it cheaper in 256 days of history; its previous low was €5.99 and the median is €6.63. Difmark's account costs €2.51 with coupon Gocdkeys (€2.62 with fees). If it's for your own account, buy Ori and the Will of the Wisps key today.
Dead Cells
Motion Twin crossed a metroidvania with a roguelite. In Dead Cells every death sends you back to the prison and rearranges the island, but the runes you find stay with you and open paths you couldn't take before. Runs are short and the combat is very quick. It's the highest-rated game on this list: Overwhelmingly Positive, 97% of 156,472 reviews.
€24.99 on the Microsoft Store. Eneba sells the key for €7.29 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€8.46 with fees), again as a US code, with a European one a bit dearer on the same site. It's a normal price: 3% below the usual €7.49, cheaper on 225 of 770 days, and the low was €2.81 last November. Difmark's account costs €4.87 with coupon Gocdkeys (€5.09 with fees).
Blasphemous, Nine Sols and Grime II: the ones that punish mistakes
Blasphemous
The Game Kitchen, a studio from Seville, filled Cvstodia with Spanish religious imagery: processions, penitents, guilt made flesh. In Blasphemous you're the Penitent One, you carry a sword called Mea Culpa and the executions are as gory as the pixel art allows. Very Positive, 90% of 54,825 reviews.
The Microsoft Store has it at €6.24 right now. Gamivo's European key costs €4.00 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€4.89 with fees), and in 568 days we've never seen it lower; the median is €5.99. Difmark's account is €4.19 with coupon Gocdkeys (€4.38 with fees), so the difference isn't worth giving up the game.
Blasphemous 2
The Penitent One wakes up again, and this time you pick one of three weapons at the start: a sword, a censer or a rapier and dagger. Blasphemous 2 plays more like a classic metroidvania than the first, with more ways to move around the map. Very Positive, 91% of 16,886 reviews.
€7.49 on the Microsoft Store. Gamivo's European key is €4.76 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€5.68 with fees), the lowest in 195 days, when the median is €6.45. Difmark's account costs €4.19 with coupon Gocdkeys (€4.38 with fees). Both games together cost you €10.57 with fees in keys.
Nine Sols
Red Candle Games, the Taiwanese studio behind Detention, call its style "Taopunk": Taoist mythology mixed with machines. In Nine Sols you play Yi, out for revenge on the nine Sols who rule the land, and the combat is built on deflecting blows at the right moment, closer to Sekiro than to Hollow Knight. Very Positive, 94% of 40,245 reviews.
It's the most expensive game in the guide, and still at its lowest. €29.99 on the Microsoft Store, and €24.06 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€26.68 with fees) for a European key at Eneba, never cheaper in 107 days. Kinguin has an account for €9.98 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€11.12 with fees).
Grime II
The newest game here. Grime II, by Clover Bite, follows the first Grime with another strange, organic world and fights where parrying matters. It came out on 31 March and is Very Positive on Steam, 86% of 1,905 reviews.
The Microsoft Store asks €27.99, and Eneba's European key is €20.81 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€23.15 with fees). We've only tracked it for 17 days, too little to judge. A price alert for Grime II costs nothing.
Konami's Castlevania collections and a Master System remake
Castlevania Dominus Collection
The three Castlevania games from the Nintendo DS in one package: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia, plus the arcade Haunted Castle and a remake of it called Haunted Castle Revisited. Castlevania Dominus Collection is Very Positive, 94% of 2,370 reviews.
€24.99 on the Microsoft Store. Gamivo sells a US key for €17.38 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€18.98 with fees); it's been cheaper on only 15 of 127 days, and the low was €14.32 on 17 July. Difmark's account costs €4.95 with coupon Gocdkeys (€5.17 with fees).
Castlevania Advance Collection
The Game Boy Advance trilogy (Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow) plus Castlevania: Dracula X from the Super Nintendo. Aria of Sorrow, where Soma Cruz steals the souls of enemies, is reason enough to buy it. Castlevania Advance Collection scores 91% of 2,156 reviews.
€19.99 on the Microsoft Store, and €14.21 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€15.70 with fees) for a European key at Gamivo. It's 18% below the usual €17.36 and has only been cheaper on 18 of 113 days. The Difmark account is €5.87 with coupon Gocdkeys (€6.13 with fees).
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap
Lizardcube remade Wonder Boy III from the Master System without touching how it plays. A curse turns you into a lizard-man, and later into a mouse, a piranha, a lion and a hawk, each one reaching places the others can't. One button switches between the new hand-drawn art and the original 8-bit graphics and sound. Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is Very Positive, 86% of 1,984 reviews.
€19.99 on the Microsoft Store, €5.39 (no fees) for the key at Instant Gaming. That's 16% below the usual €6.39; the low was €3.99 on 23 July. Difmark's account costs €3.53 with coupon Gocdkeys (€3.69 with fees).
Short runs for a few euros: Momodora and Ghost Song
Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight
Kaho, a priestess, travels to the city of Karst to ask its queen to lift a curse. Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight, by Bombservice, is a short, tight metroidvania with a maple leaf for melee and a bow for everything else. You'll finish it in a few evenings. Very Positive, 93% of 10,514 reviews.
The cheapest game in this guide. €9.99 on the Microsoft Store, €1.76 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€2.45 with fees) at Eneba. It's a US code, and in 145 days we've never seen it lower; the previous low was €2.06 on 17 July.
Momodora: Moonlit Farewell
The last game in the series. A bell rings, demons start coming for the village of Koho and Momo, its priestess, goes out to find out who rang it. Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is longer than Reverie and leans harder on combat. Very Positive, 91% of 3,069 reviews.
€16.49 on the Microsoft Store. Gamivo's European key is €11.78 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€13.18 with fees), 14% below the usual €13.76; it was cheaper on 19 of 134 days, and dropped to €9.77 on 17 September. Difmark's account costs €5.87 with coupon Gocdkeys (€6.13 with fees).
Ghost Song
The most Metroid-like game on the list. In Ghost Song, by Old Moon, you wake up as a Deadsuit on the moon Lorian and fight with a blade and a blaster that overheats if you overuse it. It's slow, dark and quiet. Very Positive, 84% of 989 reviews.
€19.99 on the Microsoft Store. Eneba sells a European key for €10.15 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€11.57 with fees), 35% below the usual €15.66. Only 8 of 239 days were cheaper; the low, €6.56, came on 8 September. The Difmark account costs €3.35 with coupon Gocdkeys (€3.50 with fees).

How far €10, €20 or €30 goes
With €10 you can take Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight (€2.45 with fees) and Blasphemous (€4.89 with fees), both at their lowest. That's €7.34 for two very different games, one short and gentle, the other long and brutal.
With €20 we'd add Ori and the Will of the Wisps (€6.58 with fees) and Blasphemous 2 (€5.68 with fees). Four games for €19.60, all at the lowest price we've recorded. Stretch to €30 and Hollow Knight fits too, at €10.22 with fees, for a total of €29.82.
If you only want one bigger game, Nine Sols at €24.06 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€26.68 with fees) is at its lowest. Retro fans can take Wonder Boy (€5.39, no fees) and the Castlevania Advance Collection (€15.70 with fees) for €21.09.
And the waiting list: Silksong was cheaper on 164 of the 172 days we've tracked, and Grime II hasn't been on sale long enough for us to say what a good price looks like. Set an alert for both.
