Valiant Hearts: Coming Home turned up in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on 1 October, and neither Ubisoft nor Microsoft said a word about it beforehand. It came in through Ubisoft+ Classics, the Ubisoft catalogue that is folded into Ultimate. If you already pay for Ultimate, it is there to play. If you don't, you have three options: subscribe, buy Coming Home on its own, or get The Collection, which adds the first game.
What arrived on 1 October
Just the sequel. The reports we could check confirm it for Ultimate on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. We found nothing solid on whether it also appears in PC Game Pass, so look it up in the Xbox app on Windows before you sign up for that reason. There is also no sign that the first game, The Great War, came with it.
From a Netflix exclusive to every platform
Coming Home started life as a mobile game for Netflix subscribers. More than a year later Ubisoft released it on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC, on the same day as Valiant Hearts: The Collection, which packs it together with The Great War.
It keeps the hand-drawn, animated comic look of the original and its mix of light puzzles and exploration in the First World War, told through four characters: James, a Harlem Hellfighter looking for his brother; Anna, the nurse from the first game; Ernst, a German diver; and George, a British pilot. Walt the dog is back too. It is short: two to three hours, according to the outlets that covered the Game Pass arrival.
Buying Coming Home on its own on PC
Right now the cheapest place to buy it is Steam: €7.49 (no fees), Steam Key. No key store beats that today. The closest is Cdkeys Com at €7.69 (no fees), Uplay Key, which you activate on Ubisoft Connect. After that the gap gets wider: Driffle asks €9.88 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€10.64 with fees), Uplay Key.
The Collection: both games for €14.89
We don't have a separate page for The Collection. The one offer we track is listed under Valiant Hearts: The Great War: Instant Gaming sells it for €14.89 (no fees), for PC with Ubisoft Connect activation.
Buying the two games separately works out cheaper. Coming Home on Steam at €7.49 (no fees) plus The Great War at Difmark for €3.54 with coupon Gocdkeys (€3.70 with fees), Uplay Key, comes to €11.19, which is €3.70 less than the bundle. If you'd rather have both in your Ubisoft Connect library, swap Steam for the Cdkeys Com key and the total is €11.39.
Does it make sense to subscribe just for this?
If you already have Ultimate, play it there and keep your money. Signing up only for Coming Home is harder to justify: a single month of Ultimate costs more than the €7.49 Steam asks to own it, and the game is gone the day you stop paying or Ubisoft pulls it from the catalogue. Ultimate makes sense if you are going to play other things from the catalogue too.
On console
We don't track Coming Home for Xbox, and on Xbox the subscription now covers it anyway. For The Great War on Xbox, Eneba has a European Xbox key at €3.03 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€3.83 with fees).
On PS4, the only thing under the PlayStation Store price is a Difmark offer at €6.29 with coupon Gocdkeys (€6.57 with fees), and it is a PSN Account: you play on a shared profile, not your own, and the game never lands in your library.
Has Coming Home been cheaper?
A little. The lowest price we have logged for a key was €5.87 on 2 February. The usual price is exactly what Steam is asking today, €7.49, and on 167 of the 451 days we have tracked it was cheaper than now. These historical figures are store prices without fees or coupons.
If you can wait, a few euros may come off in the next sale. If not, all the stores are on the page to buy Valiant Hearts Coming Home key.
Prices checked on the morning of 4 October.
