Dodo Duckie arrives in Game Pass today, 22 October. It's a small puzzle platformer that came out in July, and as it happens, its Steam Key hit the lowest price we've recorded this very morning. If it's caught your eye, you're left with one question: play it on the subscription, or buy a copy?
A duckling with a cap that adds a dimension
The game is made by BornMonkie and published by Solo Game. You play Dodo, a duckling whose magic cap switches the game from side-scrolling 2D to full 3D. Change perspective and paths you couldn't see a second ago open up. The story is just an excuse: a UFO has abducted all the hens, and Dodo follows them through a portal into a "glitched" dimension.
It came out on 23 July on PC (Steam, Epic and the Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S, with Xbox Play Anywhere. PS5 and Switch versions have been announced, but we haven't been able to confirm a date. On Steam it's rated Very Positive, with 88 of its 90 reviews in favour (98%). That's still very few reviews, so treat it as a first impression.
The Game Pass plans it's in
From today it's in Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Premium, and it's also available through cloud gaming. It's part of October's second wave of games, which adds Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Mouthwashing on 29 October.
The Steam Key at the lowest price we've seen
This morning Key4Games has the Steam Key (global region) for €6.56 (€7.06 with fees). We've been tracking it for 72 days and it has never been this cheap. The previous low was €8.39 on 26 September, and when we started following it the key cost €9.38 (historical figures don't include fees).
Next come GamesPlanet at €9.63 (no fees), Greenmangaming at €10.67 (no fees) and Fanatical at €11.99 (no fees), all selling the Steam Key. Steam itself charges €11.99 (no fees), so even once you add the fees, Key4Games saves you 41%. There are no accounts or Gifts for this one, just keys. Every offer is on the page to buy Dodo Duckie key.
Game Pass or your own copy?
If you already pay for Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass or Premium, play it there: it won't cost you anything extra. Just remember that games leave the catalogue sooner or later.
If you're not subscribed, or you want it in your Steam library for good, today is a good day to buy. The Steam Key is €7.06 with fees, the lowest it's been. It activates on Steam only, so it doesn't get you the Xbox version.
Rather wait? Set a price alert for Dodo Duckie and we'll email you if it drops further.
