As of 29 October, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is on Xbox Game Pass, in the Ultimate and Premium plans, and on PC Game Pass. It came in the same batch as Mouthwashing, Terrible Lizards and Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted. If you already pay for one of those plans, you can download it now without spending anything else.
The usual Game Pass caveat applies, though. Games rotate in and out, and Microsoft hasn't said how long this one will stay. Meanwhile, owning a copy has rarely been this cheap.
What you get with Intergrade
Intergrade is the first part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy; Rebirth is the second. This edition adds INTERmission, the extra episode with Yuffie as the lead, so you aren't missing anything if you play the version on Game Pass or buy this one.
On Steam it sits at 86% positive out of 45,434 user reviews, which Steam rates as Very Positive.
Buying it for Steam: about €11 with fees
This morning the cheapest Steam key was at G2A, a global key: €10.43 with the coupon GCKG2AF1P6K (€10.72 with fees). Driffle was next at €10.45 with GOCDKEYS10 (€11.23 with fees). Gamivo shows the lowest sticker price, €9.90 with GCDKGamivo, but its payment fee takes it to €11.24 with fees. On Steam itself the game costs €39.99 (no fees).
There are 31 offers on the PC page, and the full list to buy Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade key is there if you want to check the region of each one.
To put that in context, here are our own price records for the Steam key, all without fees. It launched at €65.69 and its median price is €36.31, so today's best deal is 71% below what it usually costs. We have 431 days of data on it, and it was cheaper than today on only 27 of them. The all-time low, €4.46 (no fees), came in September three years ago.
Why we'd skip the Steam accounts
You'll see two offers below the keys. Key4Games has it at €5.77 with GOCDKEYS15 (€6.28 with fees) and Difmark at €6.71 with the Gocdkeys coupon (€7.01 with fees). Both are Steam accounts. What you get is the username and password of an account somebody else created, with the game already in it. It never shows up in your own Steam library, and if the original owner gets the account back, you lose access. A key goes into your account and stays there, which is why we compare keys with keys and recommend the key here.
Playing on Xbox or through the Microsoft Store
The Xbox page also has 31 offers, and the keys cost about the same as on PC. Driffle is the cheapest once fees are added: €9.89 with GOCDKEYS10 (€10.65 with fees), for a European key that the listing says works on both PC and Xbox Series. Gamivo has it at €9.41 with GCDKGamivo (€10.73 with fees) and Eneba at €9.70 with Gocdkeys10 (€11.08 with fees). The Spanish Microsoft Store charges €49.99 (no fees).
An Xbox key is redeemed on your Microsoft account, the same one you use for Game Pass. Check the region in each listing before paying. The cheaper Xbox offers from Key4Games, €5.48 with GOCDKEYS15 (€5.98 with fees), and Difmark, €6.38 with Gocdkeys (€6.67 with fees), are accounts too, with the same drawbacks.
The game also has pages for PS5 and Switch 2, but this Game Pass news doesn't affect them. If you're after more games in the genre, we've put together a list of the best JRPGs on Xbox.
Subscribe or pay once: how to decide
If you're already a subscriber and you'll keep using the rest of the catalogue, just install it. Paying for the game makes more sense if you'd only be signing up for Final Fantasy VII: a key costs far less than it usually does and it's yours for good, with no need to finish it before it leaves the service.
If you're thinking of carrying on with the story, the Remake and Rebirth Twin Pack for Steam starts at €32.39 at G2A with GCKG2AF1P6K (€32.68 with fees) on its own page. And if you'd rather wait for a lower price, set a price alert and we'll email you when it drops.
Prices checked on the morning of 30 October.
