Sixteen psychological horror games for PS5: Capcom's Louisiana farmhouse, a Korean school you cross with a torch and a cigarette lighter, Konami going back to Silent Hill, and a woman arguing with the voices in her own head. Between them they carry 69 live offers in our catalogue, and the cheapest copy that truly ends up on your own account costs €2.33 with coupon GCDK13 (€2.44 with fees), a PSN Key.
We read these prices on 17 September and they move from one day to the next. Every offer comes with two figures: what the store advertises, and what leaves your bank once its payment fee is added. Where a coupon is needed, the code sits next to the price.
On PS5 the lowest price is usually somebody else's password
Thirty-six of those 69 offers are shared accounts. In fifteen of the sixteen games below, the cheapest thing on the page is an Account: Difmark, Kinguin, G2A or GamesPSN hand you the login for a profile that belongs to them. The game lives in their library and never reaches yours. You cannot lend it, you cannot resell it, and the day the seller changes the password there is nobody to appeal to.
What puts the game on your own account is a PSN Key from the PlayStation Store, or a boxed copy from Amazon or a chain like Media Markt. Those cost more, sometimes a great deal more. So each game here gets two numbers: the cheapest offer, and the cheapest copy you keep.
One title breaks the pattern, and it happens to be the cheapest thing in the whole selection. It is near the end.
About the review counts: they belong to the PC version of the same game, which is where Steam collects them, so treat them as a verdict on the game and not on this particular port.
Konami, Capcom and Ninja Theory
SILENT HILL f drops the series into a Japanese mountain town drowning in fog and red flowers, with Ryukishi07 writing and NeoBards Entertainment building it. Hinako walks the same streets she grew up in while they rot around her, and combat is deliberately clumsy: weapons break, stamina runs out, and running away is often the plan. Very Positive on Steam, 14,875 in favour against 3,719.
It has seven live offers and the widest gap here. GamesPSN advertises an Account at €12.58, no fees. The boxed Standard edition at Media Markt ES is €59.90, no fees, and the PlayStation Store PSN Key is €69.99, no fees. So €47.32 is what it costs to stop borrowing a stranger's profile on the newest Silent Hill.
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is the one Capcom used to reset the whole series: first person, a swamp house in Dulvey, and the Bakers coming down the corridor after Ethan Winters. Overwhelmingly Positive, 83,416 positive reviews against 4,390.
Here the two worlds almost touch. Difmark's Account costs €6.71 with coupon Gocdkeys (€7.01 with fees), and the PlayStation Store PSN Key is €7.99, no fees. Ninety-eight cents buys you the game instead of a login, which makes this the easiest decision on the page. G2A's Account at €19.78 (€20.07 with fees) is three times the price of Difmark's for the same kind of access, and the boxed Standard copy at Amazon DE is €28.56, no fees.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is the one that treats psychosis as the subject rather than the scenery. Ninja Theory shot Iceland, recorded the voices in binaural audio and kept the whole thing on a single narrow path for eight hours or so. Very Positive, 8,068 against 1,313.
Seven offers, and five of them are accounts. Difmark asks €20.99 with coupon Gocdkeys (€21.93 with fees) while the PlayStation Store PSN Key is €24.99, no fees: three euros and change for a copy nobody can take back. The other accounts are worse than pointless, G2A at €34.31 (€34.60 with fees) and Consogame at €39.99, no fees, both above the official price. The Deluxe Ed. on PlayStation Store is €69.99, no fees.
Frictional Games, and a rig in the North Sea
SOMA is still the smartest horror script Frictional Games has written. You wake up in an underwater facility talking to machines that are convinced they are people, and the game keeps asking you which of them is wrong. Overwhelmingly Positive, 44,433 in favour against 2,339.
Only two offers on this one. Kinguin's Account is €22.84 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€25.01 with fees), the PlayStation Store PSN Key is €28.49, no fees, and the difference between renting and owning is €3.48.
Amnesia: The Bunker locks you in a Great War tunnel network with a revolver, a hand-cranked torch and a generator that runs on fuel you have to find. Turn the lights off and something starts moving. Frictional again, Very Positive, 9,625 against 724, which is the cleanest ratio of the three games in this section.
Kinguin's Account is €9.99 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€11.13 with fees). The PlayStation Store PSN Key is €24.99, no fees. A gap of €13.86 on a game you will finish in two evenings is the kind of decision where people talk themselves into the account, and Frictional games are exactly the ones you go back to.
Still Wakes the Deep puts you on an oil rig off Scotland with no weapons at all, a Glaswegian accent and something that used to be your crewmates. The Chinese Room made it, it lasts an evening, and Steam calls it Very Positive with 9,755 in favour and 1,458 against.
Seven offers, four of them accounts, and Difmark has two at very different prices: €7.34 with coupon Gocdkeys (€7.67 with fees) and €14.27 with coupon Gocdkeys (€14.91 with fees). The boxed Standard copy at Amazon DE is €22.30, no fees, and the PlayStation Store PSN Key is €34.99, no fees. Kinguin sits in the middle with an Account at €16.12 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€17.75 with fees).
Houses, cameras and the thing at the end of the hallway
Visage is the one that took the P.T. demo seriously. SadSquare Studio built a single house, split it into chapters, and made you carry light bulbs around because the dark itself is the enemy. Very Positive, 7,435 against 1,312.
Two offers. Difmark's Account is €17.63 with coupon Gocdkeys (€18.42 with fees) and the PlayStation Store PSN Key is €34.99, no fees, so the copy that stays yours is almost exactly double.
MADiSON gives you an instant camera and a very small flat. Bloodious Games ties the puzzles to the photographs you develop, which is a better idea than most of the genre manages. Very Positive, 2,616 against 391, the smallest review count in the selection.
Six offers, and the physical editions do the work: Difmark's Account is €16.72 with coupon Gocdkeys (€17.47 with fees), while the boxed Possessed Ed. at Amazon UK is €19.86, no fees. Amazon ES has the same Possessed Ed. at €22.96, no fees, Amazon DE at €22.99 and Amazon FR at €24.99, all with no fees, and the PlayStation Store PSN Key is €34.99, no fees. Two euros and change for a disc on your shelf.
The Beast Inside is the cheapest game here to own outright and the narrowest gap on the page. Illusion Ray alternates between a code breaker in the present and the diary of the man who lived in his house a century before. Very Positive, 8,738 against 1,790.
Difmark's Account is €4.19 with coupon Gocdkeys (€4.38 with fees). The PlayStation Store PSN Key is €4.99, no fees. Sixty-one cents. There is no argument to be had.
In Sound Mind sends a therapist into the cassette tapes of his own patients, one level per tape, with a cat and a fair amount of humour. We Create Stuff came out of a Half-Life mod and it shows in the puzzle design. Overwhelmingly Positive, 5,194 against 273, the best ratio of the sixteen.
Five offers and every one of the four that stay yours is a physical or digital edition rather than a bargain. Difmark's Account is €21.20 with coupon Gocdkeys (€22.15 with fees), the boxed Deluxe Ed. at Amazon DE is €29.95, no fees, the PlayStation Store PSN Key is €34.99, no fees, Amazon ES has the Standard at €39.90 and Amazon FR the Deluxe Ed. at €46.90, both with no fees.
KARMA: The Dark World is the newest idea in this section: an East Germany that never fell, a corporation that reads memories, and an agent walking into other people's heads to find out what they did. Pollard Studio, Very Positive, 3,567 against 396.

Japan and Korea: a camera and a lighter
FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO: Maiden of Black Water still has the best weapon in horror, which is a camera. Koei Tecmo sends you up a mountain that people climb in order to die, and you fight the ghosts by framing them properly and waiting one second longer than feels safe. Very Positive, 4,462 against 980.
Three offers. Difmark's Account is €22.67 with coupon Gocdkeys (€23.69 with fees), the PlayStation Store PSN Key is €27.99, no fees, and the Deluxe Ed. on the same store is €38.49, no fees. If you want to buy FATAL FRAME key and be done with it, €4.30 is the whole surcharge.
White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is the exception promised at the top. Sonnori locks a Korean teenager in his own school overnight with a lighter, a janitor who hunts by sound, and save points that cost you something. Very Positive, 3,084 against 723.
Gameboost has it at €2.33 with coupon GCDK13 (€2.44 with fees) and it is a PSN Key, not an account. That is the cheapest offer of the sixteen games and the cheapest copy you keep, the same line. Difmark's Account at €6.29 with coupon Gocdkeys (€6.57 with fees) costs nearly three times as much for less, and the PlayStation Store PSN Key is €29.99, no fees.

Alone in the Dark has David Harbour and Jodie Comer wandering a Louisiana sanatorium, a good script and shooting that nobody enjoyed. Pieces Interactive, Mostly Positive, 2,560 in favour against 765, and that ratio is the reason it sells for what it sells for.
Seven offers. Difmark's Account is €4.28 with coupon Gocdkeys (€4.47 with fees) and it is the second cheapest thing in the selection. Kinguin has accounts at €12.96 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€14.34 with fees) and €16.47 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€18.13 with fees), G2A one at €19.62 with coupon GCKG2AH9K2L (€19.91 with fees). The cheapest copy you keep is the boxed Standard at PCcomponentes, €23.90, no fees, with the PlayStation Store PSN Key at €39.99, no fees, and a Kinguin Deluxe Ed. at €49.50 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€53.79 with fees).
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me is Supermassive's hotel built as a copy of a murder castle, with a film crew inside it and choices that kill people. Steam calls it Mixed, 2,116 in favour against 1,662, which is close to one negative review for every positive one. It is the weakest of the anthology and it is also the one where the price collapsed fastest.
Difmark's Account is €4.86 with coupon Gocdkeys (€5.08 with fees), G2A's €7.96 (€8.25 with fees), Kinguin's €15.62 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€17.21 with fees). The copy you keep is a long way up: the PlayStation Store PSN Key at €39.99, no fees, or the boxed Standard at Amazon UK for €40.66, no fees. Thirty-five euros between the two ends, on a game half the people who played it would not recommend.
Little Nightmares 3 needs saying plainly: it has more negative reviews than positive ones. Steam counts 4,675 in favour and 5,489 against, and the verdict is Mixed. The complaints are about the forced co-op, a partner controlled by the machine when you play alone, and puzzles that lost the edge the first two games had. Supermassive Games took over from Tarsier and that change is what most of the reviews are arguing about.
Five offers. The boxed Standard at Media Markt ES is €24.99, no fees. A recent game at €13.67 looks like a bargain until you read who is selling it and why it got there.

Take the cheapest offer of each and the sixteen come to €214.65. Take the cheapest copy you keep and they come to €402.75. The €188.10 in between is what the shared-account market is actually selling, and €47.32 of it is SILENT HILL f on its own.
Read the other way round, though, five of these sixteen close the gap for under €3.50: The Beast Inside for €0.61 more, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard for €0.98, MADiSON for €2.39, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 for €3.06 and SOMA for €3.48. Those are the five to buy properly tonight.
