Ubisoft has made The Division 2 free to play from today, Thursday 24 September, until Monday 28 September. It covers PlayStation, Xbox and PC, where the game runs through Ubisoft Connect. If you buy it afterwards, Ubisoft says you keep whatever progress you made during the trial.
The free days start alongside the Echoes of Central Park Showcase, where Ubisoft is showing gameplay from the next DLC for the first time. There is no price or release date for that DLC yet.
What The Division 2 is, if you missed it
It's a third-person shooter with loot, made by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, that you can play solo or in co-op. It came out in March seven years ago and has aged well with critics: on OpenCritic, top critics give it an average of 83/100 and 91% of reviewers recommend it, from 160 reviews.
The PC version costs €2.53 today
If the trial hooks you, you picked a good week. We are tracking 40 live offers for the PC game, and the two cheapest charge no payment fee:

You activate a Uplay Key in Ubisoft Connect, the same launcher you are using for the free days. Gamivo also has a Steam Gift at €1.82 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€2.63 with fees), which works out 10 cents dearer than GamesPlanet once the fee is added.
It's rarely been this cheap. Our history only counts keys, and every historical figure here is without fees. The median sits at €5.63, so today's price is 55% below the usual level. In 599 days of records the game has cost less on just 12 of them, and the lowest we've seen is €2.27, on 17 September.
Base game and Warlords cost half as much as the Gold Edition
The Gold Edition is the base game plus the Year 1 Pass; it doesn't include Warlords of New York or Battle for Brooklyn. Today it goes for €14.44 (no fees) at GamesPlanet, Uplay Key, €13.44 with coupon GCDKGamivo at Gamivo (€14.90 with fees), Uplay Key, and €14.99 (no fees) at Cdkeys Com.
Warlords of New York, the big expansion that moves the fight to New York, has a page of its own. The cheapest copy is at GamesPlanet for €4.94 (no fees), Uplay Key, followed by Greenmangaming at €5.40 (no fees) and Instant Gaming at €6.39 (no fees), both Uplay Keys as well.
Here is how the options add up at GamesPlanet, all as Uplay Keys with no fees:

For about half the price of the Gold you get the base game and the big expansion, which the Gold leaves out. Battle for Brooklyn, the most recent DLC, is an optional extra: it costs €7.32 (no fees) at GamesPlanet and €8.09 (no fees) at Greenmangaming, both Uplay Keys. Steam sells it for less, €5.24 (no fees), but DLC bought on Steam needs the base game in your Steam library, so it won't work with a copy activated on Ubisoft Connect.
Xbox and PlayStation
On Xbox, the cheapest key is at Kinguin: €3.38 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€4.00 with fees), Xbox Key. Warlords of New York starts at €5.00 with the same coupon, also at Kinguin (€5.75 with fees), Xbox Key. PS5 players have it worse. The PlayStation Store wants €29.99 (no fees), and the only cheaper options are shared accounts, such as Difmark's at €4.19 with coupon Gocdkeys (€4.38 with fees), Account, which gives you the login to someone else's account. Our advice
Play it for free until Monday. If you want to carry on, buy the base game and Warlords of New York separately as Uplay Keys, €7.47 in total (no fees) at GamesPlanet. The Gold Edition isn't worth it at these prices. All the PC shops are on our buy The Division 2 key page.
