Starfield is one of the bigger cuts in the Steam Autumn Sale: €29.99 (no fees) instead of €49.99 (no fees), 40% off until Thursday 8 October at 10:00 Pacific time. That's 19:00 in Spain and most of Western Europe, 18:00 in the UK. The Premium Edition drops by the same 40%, from €69.99 to €41.99 (no fees).
Bethesda's space RPG still splits players. Steam labels its reviews "Mixed", with about 59% of 115,320 reviews in all languages positive. If you were waiting for it to get cheap before giving it a go, this is the week, and Steam isn't the cheapest place to get it.
Where to buy Starfield for less than on Steam
This morning the cheapest Steam Key is at Cdkeys Com, at €21.99 (no fees), €8 below Steam's sale price. You redeem it on your own Steam account, so the game sits in your library with achievements and cloud saves, exactly as if you'd bought it from Valve. Green Man Gaming comes next with a Steam Key at €25.79 (no fees).
Is this a good time to buy?
Going by our records, yes. The figures from our price history are store prices without fees or coupons. A Starfield key usually sells for around €48.99, and before the sale started the lowest we'd logged since launch week was €25.39, on 29 September. Cdkeys Com was still asking €32.99 on 28 September. It dropped to €21.99 on 2 October and has stayed there.
That makes it the cheapest Starfield key we've tracked since launch week. Nobody can promise it stays there once Steam goes back to €49.99 (no fees) on Thursday evening.
The Steam Account at Driffle: cheaper, but not yours
One offer undercuts Cdkeys Com: a Steam Account at Driffle for €18.77 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€19.85 with fees). You aren't buying a copy of the game, though. You get the login for somebody else's Steam account that owns Starfield. It won't show up in your library, and if the original owner recovers the account or changes the password, you lose it.
The Steam Key costs €2.14 more and is yours for good. That's the one we recommend.
Premium Edition: worth the extra?
According to its Steam page, the Premium Edition now includes the Shattered Space expansion, the Terran Armada story DLC, 1,000 Creation Credits, the Constellation skin pack (Equinox laser rifle, spacesuit, helmet and boost pack), and the digital artbook and soundtrack.
Steam has it at €41.99 (no fees) this week. Cdkeys Com and Instant Gaming both sell it as a Steam Key for €30.99 (no fees), so €11 less. It doesn't have a page of its own on Gocdkeys: the Premium offers are listed on the Starfield page alongside the standard edition.
That's €9 on top of the standard key. If you plan to play Shattered Space, it's the sensible choice: Steam sells the Premium Edition Upgrade separately for €17.49 (no fees) in the sale, so standard key plus upgrade would come to €39.48 (no fees). One thing to check first. Terran Armada was added to the Premium Edition long after release, so make sure the shop's listing mentions it before you pay.
Before Thursday
If you want Starfield on Steam, the Cdkeys Com key at €21.99 (no fees) is the one to grab this week. If the expansions tempt you, go for the Premium at €30.99 (no fees). Every shop and both editions, with fees included, are on the page to buy Starfield key.
