Voidtrain got a new DLC on 12 October, and you don't have to pay for it. Big Catch normally costs €7.99, but Steam has it at 100% off: add it to your account before 19 October and it stays in your library for good. Steam gives 10:00 as the cut-off without saying which time zone, and other reports mention a different hour, so don't leave it to the last day.
There is one catch, if you'll forgive the pun. You need to own the game on Steam. If you don't, a Steam Key for Voidtrain costs €1.39 this morning (no fees), which is less than the DLC's regular price.
What Big Catch adds
Fishing. You catch different species, earn Scales for every fish you land, upgrade your rod and reel, and use resources you already know from the base game as bait. Scales pay for fishing upgrades and for decorating the train: a new wall and cabin theme plus several interior items. Whatever you have left over can go on reward bags of different tiers, filled with resources.
There is also a leaderboard, so you can compare catches with your friends.
How to claim it, step by step
- If you don't own Voidtrain yet, buy a Steam Key and activate it in Steam.
- Open the Big Catch page on the Steam store.
- Click "Add to Account". The DLC stays yours after the offer ends.
Stick to that order. The store page says the DLC requires the base game Voidtrain on Steam, so a copy from another store won't do. Fanatical sells an Epic Store Key for €12.29 (no fees), but the free offer we have confirmed is the Steam one, and a Steam DLC is no use to an Epic copy of the game.
The base game costs less than the DLC
Publisher HypeTrain Digital is running a sale on Steam from 12 to 26 October, and Voidtrain is €14.99 there instead of €29.99. Key resellers go far lower. The cheapest deal this morning once fees are counted is at Cdkeys Com: €1.39 (no fees), Steam Key. HRKGame comes to €1.14 with coupon Gocdkeys12 (€1.54 with fees), and Kinguin to €1.13 with OCTGOC10 (€1.57 with fees).
Difmark also has a Steam Gift at €1.36 with coupon Gocdkeys (€1.42 with fees). A gift is redeemed on your own account just like a key, but this one is restricted to the Europe region.
How today's price compares
We have been tracking Voidtrain for more than three years. The median and the all-time low below come from the cheapest price of each day across every store and format.
| Voidtrain | Price (no fees) |
|---|---|
| Median, full history | €20.99 |
| Median, last 90 days | €11.99 |
| All-time low (11 October) | €0.99 |
| Cheapest Steam Key this morning (Cdkeys Com) | €1.39 |
| Steam, during the publisher sale | €14.99 |
So today's cheapest deal is only 40 cents above the record. Steam itself is another story: we have never seen the game below €14.99 there, and outside this sale it sells for €29.99, or €17.99 when discounted. If you want to wait for a particular figure, set a price alert for Voidtrain and we'll email you.
What Steam players think
6,400 of its 8,767 Steam reviews are positive (73%), which earns it a "Mostly Positive" rating. Voidtrain is a survival and building game in which you upgrade a train travelling through the void. At just over a euro, with the fishing thrown in for free, it is a cheap one to try.
Every store and format, fees included, is listed on the page to buy Voidtrain key.
