Epic's next free game is Sker Ritual, and you can claim it from Thursday 22 October at 4pm UK time (15:00 UTC) until Thursday 29 October at 3pm UK time. The end time looks an hour earlier because the clocks go back on Sunday 25; it's 15:00 UTC on both days. It's PC only, and once you've claimed it, it stays in your Epic library for good.
The same day Epic is also giving away Home – A Unique Horror Adventure, a pixel art horror adventure. Until the 22nd at 4pm, Agent A: A puzzle in disguise and Bad Cheese are still free.
Claiming Sker Ritual on Epic, step by step
- Sign in to your Epic Games account, or create one; it's free.
- Between 22 and 29 October, open the Sker Ritual page on the Epic Games Store, on the website or in the launcher.
- Click Get and confirm. The game goes straight into your library.
- Install the Epic Games Launcher if you don't have it. You need it to download and play the game, whenever you get round to it.
You don't have to play it during the giveaway week. Claiming it is what counts.
Four players against the waves on a Welsh island
Sker Ritual is a first-person co-op horror shooter from Wales Interactive, set in the same world as Maid of Sker, on an island off the Welsh coast. Up to four players hold out together against waves of enemies, round after round. Steam players rate it Very Positive, 83% of 4,911 reviews; critics are cooler, with a 71 average from 11 reviews on OpenCritic.
A co-op shooter is only as good as the people you play it with, and that's where the free Epic copy can fall short. We haven't seen cross-play between the Epic and Steam versions confirmed, so if your group already plays on Steam, check before you count on it.
Sker Ritual on Steam for about €2.30
If you'd rather have it in your Steam library, you'll have to pay, though not much. Steam asks €19.99 (no fees). This morning we have 21 offers in stock, and these are the cheapest global Steam Keys with fees added:
- Kinguin: €1.84 with coupon OCTGOC10 (€2.34 with fees)
- K4G: €1.92 with GCDK14DEAL (€2.48 with fees)
- Gamivo: €1.72 with GCDKGamivo (€2.53 with fees)
- Eneba: €2.04 with Gocdkeys10 (€2.76 with fees)
- Instant Gaming: €2.79 (no fees)
You'll also see a Steam Gift at Difmark for €2.18 with coupon Gocdkeys (€2.28 with fees). A gift is a copy the store sends to your Steam account as a present: it ends up yours, but you don't get a code to redeem yourself. For six cents more, Kinguin's key is the simpler option, and the one we'd pick.
It's also about as low as it gets. The lowest price we've recorded for a key is €2.00, in May, and the median is €8.99; our price history doesn't include fees. If you want it on Steam, there's nothing to gain by waiting. Every offer is on the page to buy Sker Ritual key.
Xbox and PS5 owners miss out on Epic's giveaway
The giveaway doesn't cover consoles. On Sker Ritual for Xbox, the cheapest offer is an account at Key4Games, €2.88 with coupon GOCDKEYS15 (€3.26 with fees). An account means the store gives you the login for someone else's Microsoft account that already owns the game; it isn't a purchase in your name. If you want a code for your own account, the cheapest European Xbox Key is at Eneba, €18.66 with Gocdkeys10 (€20.81 with fees), and the Microsoft Store charges €24.99 (no fees), so the saving is small.
On PS5 there are only accounts: Key4Games has one for €13.00 with GOCDKEYS15 (€13.84 with fees).
Prices checked on the morning of 20 October.
