RuneScape: Dragonwilds is out of early access. Jagex has pushed version 1.0 live today and, on the same day, the game turns up on Game Pass and on PS Plus at the same time. Both big subscriptions taking a game on the exact day it finishes early access is not something you see often.
If you skipped it on the way up, it is an open-world survival and crafting game set in Gielinor, the RuneScape world, dragons included. You can play it alone or bring people in for co-op. Jagex develops and publishes it, and it went into early access on 15 April last year. On Steam the reviews sit at Very Positive: 22,463 positive against 5,269 negative, 27,732 in total.
Game Pass and PS Plus on the same day
Two things we cannot tell you, and will not make up: which tier of Game Pass or of PS Plus the game lands in, and how long it stays there. Open the catalogue inside each service and check before you plan your month around it. We also cannot confirm whether the console version shows up today.

Nobody is reselling a Steam Key for this game
Here is the bit worth knowing before you open a key shop. There is no resale Steam Key for RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Not one. Jagex does not hand keys to distributors, so the shops have nothing to sell you in that format, and what you see listed there is something else wearing similar clothes.
A Steam Gift is a real copy. Somebody bought it and sends it to you through Steam; you accept it and from then on it lives in your library. The difference from a key is the journey: no code you punch in whenever it suits you, but a seller who has to press send and you who has to be around to take it.
A Steam Account, what the shops call a shared account, is a login. You play on somebody else's account. The game never becomes yours, your hours sit on an account you do not control, and the access can be gone the day the owner changes the password. On a survival game you are going to feed for weeks, that is a lot to put on loan.
So the only copy that is properly in your name is Steam's own, at €29.99, no fees.
Every PC offer on the page this morning
We checked at 07:42 UTC on 16 September and these move around daily. There are 11 live offers on PC, and exactly one of them is Steam.
- Steam: €29.99, no fees. The only key.
- Gamivo, Steam Gift: €21.16 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€22.89 with fees). The cheapest gift.
- Driffle, Steam Gift: €24.70 with the coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€25.99 with fees).
- K4G, Steam Gift: €27.96 with the coupon GCDK14DEAL (€30.74 with fees).
- Kinguin, Steam Gift: €28.61 with the coupon SEPGOC10 (€31.24 with fees).
- Difmark Digital Keys, Steam Gift: €32.41 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€33.87 with fees).
Watch what the payment fees do to that order. On the sticker, four gifts come in under Steam's €29.99. Once the fee goes on, only Gamivo and Driffle are still below it, and Difmark ends up €3.88 above a plain Steam purchase for a copy that needs an extra step to reach you.
The two shared accounts sit much lower. G2A asks €15.05 with the coupon GCKG2AU1M4D (€15.34 with fees), Steam Account, and K4G €14.60 with the coupon GCDK14DEAL (€16.24 with fees), also Steam Account. K4G is the cheaper of the two on display and the dearer one at checkout, so the number that counts is the one on the last screen. Either way you pay about half of Steam for access somebody else can switch off.
What 92 days of price history are actually worth
Steam has asked €29.99 for very nearly the whole time we have been watching, and the median works out at €29.99 as well. The lowest figure in our records is €20.99, on 23 June. Both of those are without fees and without coupons.
Now the caveat. Our series runs 92 days, which is short. It tells you the list price has barely moved since we started measuring, and nothing about the next sale. If you are in no hurry, you can set a price alert and let the €20.99 figure be the number you wait for.
Subscription this month, copy later
If you already pay for Game Pass or PS Plus and the game is in your tier, play it there. You spend nothing extra, and a weekend is enough to find out whether the crafting loop holds you.
If you want the game on your account for good, €29.99, no fees, is close to what it has always cost here, so this is neither a bargain nor a bad moment. Gamivo's gift at €21.16 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€22.89 with fees) saves you €7.10 against Steam and still ends up in your library, as long as you are comfortable waiting for a seller to send it. The shared accounts are cheaper again, and we would leave them alone on a game with this much progression at stake.
