Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage joined Game Pass on 10 September, PC Game Pass included, with Play Anywhere support. Subscribers can play it today for nothing extra, for as long as it stays in the catalogue. If you'd rather own it, which version to buy depends on where you play, and on PC the naming will throw you off before the prices do.
Out since last October, on Game Pass since 10 September
World Stage originally came out on 30 October last year on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam, at $19.99. The Switch 2 version followed in March. The game is developed by RGG Studio, the Ryu Ga Gotoku team, and published by SEGA.
R.E.V.O. and World Stage are the same game on Steam
Here's the short version. On Steam, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. came out on 27 January last year, and every copy was later updated to World Stage free of charge. So a Steam Key sold as "Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O." gets you World Stage today.
What World Stage adds
The update brings a single-player mode of the same name, in which you work through a series of opponents who get progressively stronger. For online play, the game has rollback netcode and cross-platform matches.
OpenCritic keeps the two apart. There, R.E.V.O. on PC averages 71 from 23 reviews, while World Stage averages 81 from 16. On Steam, the PC version is rated Mostly Positive, with 1,345 positive and 550 negative reviews.
On PC, resellers are asking more than usual
We read the prices below at around 05:50 UTC on 14 September; they may have moved since. Steam sells the standard edition at €19.99, no fees. What the PC stores had:
- Eneba: €12.38 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€13.99 with fees), Steam Key, Europe
- Kinguin: €13.27 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€14.68 with fees), Steam Key, Europe
- Gamivo: €13.42 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€14.88 with fees), Steam Key, global
- GamesPlanet: €15.51, no fees, Steam Key
- Difmark: €8.06 with coupon Gocdkeys (€8.42 with fees), shared Steam account
Difmark's €8.42 is a shared account, which is a rental with no contract behind it: you play on a stranger's Steam user until the day they decide you don't.
For keys, this is a bad day to buy. Our history puts the median at €9.99 and the lowest price at €8.28, on 20 August, both without fees. Eneba's €12.38 before fees is 24% above that median, and of the 211 days we've tracked the key, it has been cheaper than today on 201 of them. The monthly lows below mix every offer and format together, and leave out fees and coupons:
| Month | Lowest (no fees or coupons, all formats) |
|---|---|
| April | €9.51 |
| May | €9.33 |
| June | €9.59 |
| July | €9.59 |
| August | €8.28 |
| September | €9.00 |
Every month since April, something has sold for under €10.
The 30th Anniversary Edition on PC and Xbox
This edition adds the Legendary Pack, a Yakuza series pack, exclusive swimsuits, making-of material, commemorative music and titles for ranked mode. Eneba has it on PC as a Steam Key at €18.44 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€20.57 with fees), which is 58 cents more than the plain edition costs on Steam. Instant Gaming asks €33.99 and Humble Bundle €35.99, both with no fees.
Almost everything we find for World Stage on Xbox is this edition. Microsoft Store sells it at €39.99, no fees, as an Xbox key, and Kinguin at €28.87 with coupon SEPGOC10 (€31.52 with fees), an Xbox key for the US region. The only cheaper Xbox option is a shared account from Difmark at €12.59 with coupon Gocdkeys (€13.16 with fees). On PS5, the only offer we see is another Difmark shared account at the same price.
