Steam has put both of Moon Studios' platformers on sale until 1 October. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is down 90%, from €29.99 to €2.99. Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is 75% off, from €19.99 to €4.99.
That's the lowest price Steam has charged for Will of the Wisps since we started tracking the Steam store in April. Its earlier sales stopped at €7.49.
Two metroidvanias with near-perfect reviews
If you've never played them: both are 2D platformers built around exploration, where new abilities open up parts of the map you couldn't reach before. Will of the Wisps sits at "Overwhelmingly Positive" on Steam, with 96% of 136,080 reviews in favour (130,637), and a Metacritic score of 88. Blind Forest has the same 88 on Metacritic and 94% positive reviews on Steam (58,944 of 62,706), "Very Positive".
Steam also sells the pair as "Ori: The Collection" for €7.18, against an original €44.98. As with any Steam bundle, if you already own one of the two, you only pay for the one you're missing.
Will of the Wisps: for once, Steam has the cheapest copy
This morning no reseller beats Steam on a Steam Key. The official sale is €2.99 (no fees), Steam Key. The next cheapest is Gameboost at €5.03 with the coupon GCDK13 (€5.27 with fees), Steam Key, which is close to double.
The one thing that undercuts Steam is a Steam Gift at Gamivo: €1.94 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€2.76 with fees). A gift ends up in your own Steam library just like a key does. The saving is €0.23, so it only matters if you're counting every cent.
You'll also see PC / Xbox Keys, which activate on the Microsoft Store and not on Steam: G2A at €6.27 with the coupon GCKG2AN7C5E (€6.56 with fees) and Instant Gaming at €7.89 (no fees). They make sense only if you play through the Xbox app.
Blind Forest: here the resellers win
Blind Forest is the other way round. Steam asks €4.99, and two resellers come in at €3.19 with fees: HRKGame at €2.79 with the coupon Gocdkeys12 (€3.19 with fees), Steam Key, and Gameboost at €3.04 with the coupon GCDK13 (€3.19 with fees), Steam Key. Cdkeys has it for €3.99 (no fees). That's €1.80 below Steam.
Bundle or separate copies: what both games cost
Mixing and matching comes out slightly cheaper than the bundle. All four options below leave both games in your library.

The Steam bundle is the easiest route and costs a euro more than buying separately. Ori The Collection as a PC / Xbox Key only makes sense if you play on Xbox or through the Xbox app on PC. Difmark sells it as a shared account for €6.71 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€7.01 with fees): that's a login you share with other buyers, not a copy of your own, so we'd skip it.
Our pick before the sale ends
Buy Will of the Wisps on Steam at €2.99 and Blind Forest from a reseller at €3.19. If you'd rather keep it to one purchase, take the Steam bundle. Either way, do it before 1 October: after that Steam goes back to €29.99 and €19.99, and the resellers are currently charging more than Steam for Will of the Wisps.
