Poland and the three Baltic states are the latest additions to Microsoft Flight Simulator. World Update 23 went live on 26 October, it's free, and you grab it from the in-sim Marketplace.
What World Update 23 adds
Microsoft counts 12 cities across the region, eight of them detailed urban areas in Poland, Warsaw and Krakow among them. On top of that there are 77 handcrafted landmarks, including Malbork Castle and the Riga Radio and TV Tower, plus five handcrafted airports built with Asobo and Gaya Simulations.
You need the sim on its latest version. Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming players don't have to do anything, as it's delivered automatically. It's out on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, although on PS5 only Flight Simulator 2024 exists.
The 2020 and 2024 sims get different missions
In Flight Simulator 2024 there's a landing challenge at Sopot modelled on the Red Bull Air Race, and a rally race. Flight Simulator 2020 gets three discovery flights and four regional landing challenges instead.
Microsoft hasn't spelled out whether the full scenery package lands in both sims. Both get new content, the missions above, and that's as far as we can confirm.
One thing that isn't included: the Antonov An-28 (Local Legend 26). It's a separate Marketplace purchase at under $20.
Don't own either yet? Here's what each version costs
We'd buy a key, so this compares keys with keys, next to the official store price, as of this morning:
| Version | Cheapest key | Official store |
|---|---|---|
| Flight Simulator 2024 (PC, Steam) | €37.66 with coupon Gocdkeys12 (€40.20 with fees), Steam key at HRKGame | €79.99 (no fees) on Steam |
| Flight Simulator 2024 (Xbox / Microsoft Store) | €40.30 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€42.70 with fees), Europe Xbox key at Gamivo | €55.92 (no fees) on the Spanish Microsoft Store |
| Flight Simulator 2024 (PS5) | Nothing below the official store | €79.99 (no fees) on PlayStation Store |
| Flight Simulator 2020 (PC) | €19.92 with coupon GCKG2AF1P6K (€20.21 with fees), Windows key (Microsoft Store, Standard 40th Anniversary Edition) at G2A | - |
The 2024 Steam key is roughly half what Steam charges, and 9% under its usual price (a median of €41.35, before fees). Steam reviews are "Mixed", with 60% of 22,461 positive. Every offer to buy Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 key is here:
If you'd rather spend less, the 2020 sim is unusually cheap right now. Its key normally sits around €24.41 (before fees) and is 18% below that today. In the 639 days we've tracked it, it was cheaper on just 11. The record is €15.26 (before fees), set on 31 October last year.
Steam key or Microsoft Store key?
A Steam key goes into your Steam account, the game sits in your Steam library and you launch it from there. An Xbox key from the Microsoft Store is redeemed on your Microsoft account and you install the game through the Xbox store or the Xbox app on Windows. Check the listing for which platforms it covers (PC, Xbox Series, or both) before you pay.
Pick the store you'll actually play on: your copy stays tied to it and can't be moved later. On price, the Steam key comes out about €2.50 cheaper with fees than the European Xbox key today. You'll spot US-region Xbox keys for less, but they may not work with a European Microsoft account, which is why we leave them out. If you're set on Xbox and can wait, a price alert is worth setting.
About the much cheaper accounts
You'll see lower prices, but they're accounts. Difmark has a 2024 Steam account at €22.83 with coupon Gocdkeys (€23.86 with fees). Key4Games sells Xbox accounts at €9.61 with GOCDKEYS15 (€10.30 with fees) and PS5 accounts at €33.90 with GOCDKEYS15 (€35.69 with fees).
With an account you get someone else's login for a profile that already owns the game. It never reaches your own library, and if the seller takes the account back, the game is gone. On PS5 that leaves the PlayStation Store at €79.99 (no fees) as the only way to own it outright for now.
Prices checked on the morning of 29 October.
