If you're thinking about picking up Conan Exiles now, check which store you're buying from first. Since 5 May, there have been two versions of Funcom's survival game. Conan Exiles Enhanced, rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, is the one getting all the new content, and it's only on Steam. Everyone else, on Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, PC Game Pass, Xbox or PlayStation, is still on what Funcom now calls Conan Exiles Legacy, the old Unreal Engine 4 version.
What Conan Exiles Enhanced is
You don't have to buy it again if you already had the game on Steam: Enhanced replaced the original there, as a free update. Same Exiled Lands, same building and survival loop, but on the new engine, and it's the version Funcom has been developing ever since.
On Steam the game sits at "Mostly Positive": 62,492 positive reviews out of 80,118, or 78%. Bear in mind that figure covers the game's whole life on that store page, not just the months since Enhanced came out.
Where you're still playing Legacy
If you own the game on Epic, the Microsoft Store (including PC Game Pass), Xbox or PS4, you're on Legacy, and there's no crossplay between the two: a Legacy player can't join an Enhanced server, or the other way round.
Funcom has said consoles will only get critical fixes, with no more big content drops. It has also said it's considering bringing Enhanced to other stores and to consoles, but that there are no plans for now. So if you're buying on Xbox or PlayStation hoping it'll get the update later, you're betting on something nobody has announced.
What Enhanced has added since May
- 21 July: Part 1 of "The Legacy of the Giant-Kings", a four-part saga.
- 15 September: update 2.2.0, which moves the game to a newer version of the engine and to Iris, Epic's networking system, to improve server performance. New Bazaar packs arrived the same day.
- 6 October: Part 2 of the saga. Rifts open up across the map, with new challenges, new sorcery spells and the return of the Mi-Go.
All of this is Enhanced-only. Funcom hasn't dated Parts 3 and 4 yet.

Buying on PC: this morning's best offers
Enhanced took over the original game's Steam page, so any Steam key for Conan Exiles gives you Enhanced, whatever the shop calls it. Steam itself charges €39.99 (no fees). This morning the cheapest key was at Gamivo: €10.28 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€11.63 with fees). Close behind are G2A, €11.42 with GCKG2AM4E7H (€11.71 with fees), and K4G, €10.60 with GCDK14DEAL (€11.90 with fees).
You'll also see a Steam account at Gameseal for €4.94 with SEAL17CKD (€5.72 with fees). An account isn't a key: you get the login for someone else's Steam account that already has the game, instead of adding it to your own library. For a game you'll be playing for hundreds of hours on your own servers and saves, we'd go for the key.
One thing worth knowing: the key is dearer than usual. Our historical median for it is €6.59 (historical figures exclude fees), so the €10.28 offer is 56% above that. Our guess is that the relaunch as Enhanced has pushed prices up. If you're not in a hurry, set a price alert for Conan Exiles and we'll email you when it drops. If you want to start now, all the shops are on the page to buy Conan Exiles key.
The Complete Edition, with the DLC packs, starts at €47.91 with GCDK14DEAL (€52.38 with fees) at K4G. If what you're after is the Isle of Siptah expansion, it's sold on its own: €6.59 with GCDKGamivo (€7.81 with fees) at Gamivo, on the Isle of Siptah page.
Buying on Xbox or PS4
Buying on console can still make sense, say if your friends already play there, as long as you know it's Legacy and will stay that way. On Xbox, accounts start at €1.42 with the Gocdkeys coupon (€1.48 with fees) at Difmark, and the cheapest Xbox key is €14.09 (no fees) at Instant Gaming. Same as on PC, we'd take the key.
Be careful with keys listed as "PC Key / Xbox Key" or Xbox and Windows: they activate on the Microsoft Store, so on PC they leave you on Legacy too. If you play on PC, it has to be Steam.
On PS4 there's no key, only a Difmark account at €12.59 with the Gocdkeys coupon (€13.16 with fees), or the PlayStation Store at €49.99 (no fees).
