Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux are getting a free update this month. 4A Games and Deep Silver have dated it for 22 October on PC and 29 October on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, where both games get native versions. If you have never played them, or you are deciding which copy to buy before the update lands, the cheapest route right now is the PC bundle, at about two and a half euros.
What the update changes on each platform
Every version gets 4K textures, reworked lighting and shadows, better particle effects, more detailed environments, improved animations, higher-quality audio and a batch of bug fixes. It is a technical overhaul of the two existing games, with no new story content.
On console you pick between native 4K at 60 FPS and upscaled 4K at 120 FPS, which needs a TV or monitor that supports it. PS5 Pro adds PSSR upscaling, Xbox Series X uses TSR, and the pads finally get Adaptive Triggers on DualSense and Impulse Triggers on Xbox. On PC the extras are DLSS and spatial audio, on Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store.
The Switch version is not in the announcement.
Bundle or the two games separately on PC
Bought one at a time they cost more. This morning the cheapest Metro 2033 Redux was at Cdkeys Com for €1.79 (no fees), Steam Key, and Last Light Redux at HRKGame for €1.17 with coupon Gocdkeys12 (€1.57 with fees), Steam Key, a key for Europe only. That adds up to €3.36. The bundle with both is €2.06 at HRKGame with the same coupon Gocdkeys12 (€2.46 with fees), Steam Key, and that one works worldwide.
A single game only makes sense if you already own the other. Both get the update, so neither one is the version that misses out.
Is around €2 normal for this bundle?
It is, and the announcement has not pushed it up. Counting keys only, without coupons or fees, the bundle usually sits at €4.80 in our price history, and the lowest we have recorded is €2.00 on 1 August. Before coupons, the cheapest store price today is €2.33, at K4G and Gameseal. Across all formats, also without fees, the monthly low has stayed between €1.90 and €2.33 since April.
Xbox and PlayStation: what you can buy today
The Xbox page in our catalogue is the Xbox One version, which already runs on Series X|S through backward compatibility. Gameseal has it for €2.13 with coupon SEAL17CKD (€2.69 with fees), Xbox Key, for the European region.
PlayStation is harder. The only key we have comes from the PlayStation Store itself, €4.49 (no fees), PSN Key, for the PS4 version, and that is the last price the store sent us, on 29 August. Check it before paying. The other two offers, at €14.99, are Accounts: the game stays on someone else's profile, not yours.
Deep Silver says the update is free for current owners, and some outlets read that as covering PS4 and Xbox One copies too. How each store will handle the move to the new console version has not been explained yet, so if that is why you are buying the old one, wait until 29 October to see it working.
Switch: only accounts, and no update
There is no Switch key in stock. The cheapest offer is Key4Games at €8.94 with coupon GOCDKEYS7 (€9.56 with fees), and it is an Account, so the game is not tied to your own Nintendo profile. Add the fact that this version is left out of the update, and it is the hardest one to recommend.
All the stores selling both games are on the page to buy Metro Redux Bundle key.
Prices checked on the morning of 3 October.
