Atlus released a free demo of Metaphor: ReFantazio on Nintendo Switch 2 on 13 October. It covers the opening stretch of the story, which is enough to see the world, meet the first characters and try the combat. You can play it as many times as you like, and your save carries over to the full game.
The full Switch 2 version arrives on 12 November, as announced in a Nintendo Direct. The physical copy will be a game-key card, and there will be a limited SteelBook in the West. We don't have a Switch 2 page for it yet, so we can't tell you what it will cost.
What Metaphor: ReFantazio is
It's a fantasy RPG from Atlus, the team behind Persona, published by SEGA. The kingdom needs a new king, the throne goes to whoever wins the people over, and that race drives the story. As in Persona, the days tick by on a calendar and you decide how to spend each one. Fights mix real-time action out in the field with turn-based battles.
It launched on PC, PS5 and Xbox two years ago, on 11 October. Critics gave it 92 on Metacritic. On Steam it is rated "Very Positive", with 22,733 positive reviews out of 25,543 (89%). Text comes in English, Spanish (Spain), French, Italian, German and Brazilian Portuguese, with English or Japanese voices.
Try the combat on Switch 2 before you commit
If you have never played an Atlus RPG and aren't sure turn-based battles are your thing, the demo settles it at no cost. Liked it and want it on Switch 2? Then you're waiting until 12 November, and the demo save will be there when you start. If you play on PC, you don't have to wait for anything, and the price this week is the best we have recorded.

We have been logging this key's price for 204 days and had never seen it go this low. The previous record was €15.19 on 22 June, and most days it sat around €16.60.
Cheapest offers this morning
Difmark is even cheaper at €10.32 with coupon Gocdkeys (€10.78 with fees), but that offer is a Steam Account: a separate Steam account that already has the game. It doesn't add Metaphor: ReFantazio to the account you use now, so you'd have to log into that one to play. We'd go for the key.
