Lightyear Frontier leaves early access on 4 November, and FRAME BREAK has already said what that does to the price: on Steam it goes from €23.99 to €29.99. The studio adds that the 40% discount running until 3 October is the last sale before launch. If you were holding off until 1.0 to buy, the numbers point the other way.
€29.99 from 4 November, €14.39 until 3 October
The new price was posted on the game's Steam page on 9 September: $29.99, €29.99 or £23.49 once 1.0 is out. The reason given is that the game has grown a lot and stops being sold as an unfinished product.
Until 3 October, Steam charges €14.39 (no fees), Steam Key. That is less than half of what it will ask in a month.
| Where | Price | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Gamivo, today | €9.94 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€11.28 with fees) | Steam Key |
| Steam, until 3 October | €14.39 (no fees) | Steam Key |
| Steam, regular price in early access | €23.99 (no fees) | Steam Key |
| Steam, from 4 November | €29.99, as announced | Steam Key |
How often has Steam dropped to €14.39?
More often than a "last chance" suggests. In our price history Steam sat at €14.39 from late June to late July almost without a break, moved to €19.58 for part of August and came back to €14.39 on 26 September. The rest of the time it was €23.99. These are store prices, with no payment fees or coupons involved.
So the discount is an old acquaintance. What is new is the base price the next one will be taken from.
Gamivo undercuts Steam's sale this morning
Out of about twenty live offers, the best key is Gamivo's: €9.94 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€11.28 with fees), Steam Key. With fees counted, that is roughly three euros under Steam's sale price.
There is something cheaper, €3.60 with coupon Gocdkeys (€3.76 with fees) at Difmark, but it is a Steam Account. You log in to a profile that belongs to someone else and the game never reaches your own library. The monthly low in our history between April and August, €5.19 before fees and coupons, was an account every time.
FRAME BREAK has only spoken about the Steam price. What keys in other stores will do after 4 November, nobody has said, and we are not going to guess.
Two new regions and the end of the story
Version 1.0 adds the Sandswept Highlands and Hollow Marsh, the story finale and a day that no longer cuts to a transition screen. Your mech gets a flying Transform Mode called Skyblazer, a Seed Shooter Minigun mod and reworked customisation. Progression asks for fewer Deliveries and lets you queue several, map markers can be named, and there are new difficulty options.
Early access saves carry over
The announcement says it in so many words: "Your existing saves will carry over to 1.0".
The 1.0 release is confirmed for Steam and Xbox Series X|S. PS5 and Switch are not mentioned. On Steam the game is rated Very Positive, with 83% of more than 4,200 reviews from buyers there.
All stores are on the page to buy Lightyear Frontier key. If you would rather watch what happens after launch, set a price alert.
