Thronefall is getting its first big expansion. It's called Craaghelm and it comes out on 11 November, the same day the game launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. On Xbox it also goes straight into Game Pass that day.
If you play on PC, there's no reason to hold off on the base game: the Steam Key costs roughly a third of Steam's price and is close to the lowest we've tracked.
What's in Craaghelm
The DLC is coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. Grizzly Games hasn't announced a price yet.
It adds eight maps: Widerhall, Myrkforst, Brewerk, Lichtspalt, Grundsteg, Schattengrund, Tiefenlift and Zentrum. There are two new resources, mithril and energy cores, which feed a new set of allied units: axe throwers, airships and Walker Tanks.
On the hero side you get the Technician, the Siege Engineer and dwarven spirit warriors, plus two new weapons, Dragon's Roar and Twin Bastions. The enemy roster grows with the Clockwork Oliphaunt, Loot Goblins and Leap Bots, and the maps bring mutators and environmental hazards.
The PC version today: €5.07 with fees
Steam sells Thronefall for €12.99 (no fees). The best Steam Key in our comparison is at Kinguin: €4.37 with the coupon SEPGOC10 (€5.07 with fees), Steam Key. Even with fees, that's 61% less than Steam.
There's a cheaper option, a Steam Account at Difmark for €3.52 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€3.68 with fees). It's a shared account, though, so the game doesn't end up on your own Steam profile, which gets awkward once you want to add Craaghelm. We'd pay the extra €1.39 for the key.
How close is it to its lowest?
Close. Our key history, without fees, puts the median at €4.90 and the lowest at €4.00 on 23 July. Out of 283 days with data, the key was cheaper than today on only 35.
The trend has been gently downward. Across all formats, the monthly low (store price, no fees or coupons) was €4.62 in April, dropped to €4.19 in June, hit €4.00 in July and has stayed at €4.19 since August. Without the coupon, Kinguin's rate is €4.85, right on the median, so the coupon is what makes today's deal worth taking.
PS5 and Xbox players have to wait until 11 November
There's nothing to buy on consoles yet. On Xbox Series X|S, if you already pay for Game Pass, you'll be able to play it there from launch day. On PS5 you'll have to wait for the release and see what it costs then.
It's a tower defense game with base building, where you also control a hero on the battlefield. Grizzly Games developed it and Mythwright publishes it. On Steam it sits at "Overwhelmingly Positive", with 96% of 23,010 reviews in favour (22,090 positive).
Buy it now or wait for the expansion?
On PC, buy it now. The DLC will be sold separately, we don't know its price yet, and the base game is already near its floor. Waiting a month and a half gains you nothing certain.
