The discount on Death Stranding Director's Cut for PC is real, and so is the figure doing the rounds with it: up to 82% off. What a percentage never tells you is the price it was measured against. Ours says something else entirely, and it is not flattering: today is one of the more expensive days of the year to buy this game.
There are 37 live offers across 16 stores right now, every one of them the Standard edition.
What the discount actually costs today
The lowest total belongs to Gamivo: €5.77 base for a Steam Key, €6.96 once the payment fee is added, with the code GCDKGamivo. Driffle is a step behind at €6.67 base and €7.31 with fees on the same format, code GOCDKEYS10. Kinguin's cheapest Steam Key works out at €7.76 with fees (€6.86 base, code SEPGOC10).
Coupons and checkout surcharges are not everyone's idea of a good time. If that is you, GamesPlanet lists a Steam Key at €7.28 and charges no payment fee at all, so €7.28 is the number that leaves your account. Green Man Gaming does the same thing at €8.00, no fee, no code to type. Steam itself wants €9.99, also with nothing added.
Thirty-two cents separate the best coupon price from the best no-strings price. The whole top of the list fits inside that gap, and you can see it sorted by what you actually pay if you go and buy Death Stranding Director's Cut key from the game page.

Only 26 of the 37 offers land in a Steam library
The other eleven split into 5 Steam Gift, 3 Xbox Key, 2 Epic Store Key and one sold as a PC / Xbox Key. They share a page because it is the same game on PC, but they are not interchangeable, and an Xbox code will never show up in your Steam account.

The Steam Gift offers cost more than five times the cheapest one
Gift copies are the outliers here. The cheapest is K4G at €34.50 base, €37.83 with fees, code GCDK14DEAL, with Driffle's at €38.12 with fees. A few Steam Keys are up in that range too: Fanatical asks €39.99 with no payment fee, Playerland €35.99, also fee-free.
Same game, same edition, more than five times what the cheapest Steam Key costs—so sort by the final amount rather than by the sticker price.

None of this is a complaint about the game. It holds a Very Positive rating on Steam, 45,566 positive reviews out of 49,528, and an 85 on Metacritic. The argument is purely about what you hand over.
