Deadly Days: Roadtrip left early access last Thursday, 29 October, and is now out in its full 1.0 version. It's developed by Pixelsplit and published by Sidekick Publishing, and it had been in early access since 22 September last year, so a little over thirteen months.

For the launch, Steam has it at €9.74 (no fees) until 12 November. A reseller Steam key is cheaper still: €4.97 with coupon GCDK13 (€5.20 with fees) at Gameboost.

What kind of game Deadly Days: Roadtrip is

It's a bullet heaven roguelite, the genre Vampire Survivors made popular. Your character shoots on their own. Your job is to keep moving through the horde and pick upgrades as you go. Here the horde is zombies, and the whole thing is drawn in 2.5D pixel art.

Steam players like it. Reviews are Very Positive, 89% of 760, and the last 30 days sit at the same 89% across 267 reviews, so the full release hasn't moved opinion either way.

The backpack is where runs are decided

What sets it apart from the rest of the genre is the inventory. Weapons and items go into a small backpack, and where you put them matters: items placed next to each other boost one another. You can also fuse items and work your way up to crafting legendary ones. With so little room, a good part of each run is figuring out what sits next to what.

Fuel, a bus and knowing when to leave

Every run is framed as a road trip. You collect fuel for the bus and decide when to get out, which is the game's take on extraction. Along the way you recruit survivors.

You can play it in co-op, both local split-screen and online, and there's an endless mode plus a weekly challenge. What we can't tell you is exactly what 1.0 adds over the early access build. We haven't seen a confirmed list, so we won't guess.

Steam's launch sale runs until 12 November

On Steam the game is 35% off: €9.74 (no fees) instead of €14.99 (no fees). Once the sale ends on 12 November, it goes back to the full price. The Supporter Pack, a DLC for backing the developers, is also down, from €4.99 (no fees) to €4.49 (no fees).

Reseller prices: about half of what Steam charges in the sale

The best Steam key this morning was at Gameboost: €4.97 with coupon GCDK13 (€5.20 with fees). Fees included, that's 47% less than the discounted Steam price. We found 25 offers across 14 shops.

You'll notice one offer that's lower: a Steam Account at G2A for €4.46 with coupon GCKG2AF1P6K (€4.75 with fees). That gets you a login to someone else's account, and the game never goes into your own library. For 45 cents more with fees, the key is yours to keep, so that's what we'd buy. Every offer to buy Deadly Days: Roadtrip key is on the game page.

How today's Deadly Days: Roadtrip price compares with its history

It's a good one. We have 393 days of price data for the key, with a median of €7.56 (no fees). Today's price is 34% below that, and it has only been cheaper on 25 of those days.

If you were waiting for the full release, now is a sensible time to pick up the key. If you'd rather buy straight from Steam, do it before 12 November. And if you want to see whether the key drops further, set a price alert and we'll email you.

Prices checked on the morning of 3 November.
