Neon Abyss 2 is out of early access. Veewo Games and publisher Kepler Ghost released version 1.0 on 8 October (Steam shows 7 October because it goes by US time), after a stretch in early access that began on 17 July last year. The same day, the game reached consoles for the first time, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch, and it was in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from day one.

On Steam it costs €15.60 (no fees) until 22 October, 20% off its usual €19.50. This morning the cheapest Steam Key is at Eneba for €6.57 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€7.68 with fees), roughly half of what Steam is asking during its own sale.

What Neon Abyss 2 is, if you skipped the early access

It's a 2D action roguelite with platforming: you pick an agent, fight your way through a run, and when you die you start again from the bar. It can be played solo or online with up to three friends. No content counts have been published for 1.0.

Theia, Storm Breach and the rest of version 1.0

The headline addition is a new Titan: Theia, Goddess of Vanity, who comes with her own final boss fight. Storm Breach, the co-op mode that sat in a beta, is now open to everyone for 1 to 4 players online.

Achievements arrive on every platform, Steam included. At the bar you can now let the game pick a random agent, and each agent has a profile that tracks their abilities, the bosses you've beaten with them and your records. The Artisanism faith has been reworked with badges and new affixes.

There's also a fishing room with a day-night cycle and a boss hidden inside it, plus a music player for anyone who owns the Supporter Pack. The settings menu gets graphics and FPS options, ultrawide support and work on controller, audio and translations. Wonder Blocks, Smiley Merchants, weapon experience and evolutions have all been adjusted, and the patch notes list a long run of bug fixes.

Already on Game Pass? Then it costs you nothing extra

If you pay for Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, Neon Abyss 2 is included, which is the cheapest way to see whether the 1.0 clicks with you. Buying a copy makes more sense if you don't subscribe, or if you want it in your Steam library for good, with the Steam achievements that come with this update.

€7.68 at Eneba or €15.60 on Steam?

A Steam Key is redeemed on your own account, and from then on the game behaves exactly like one bought on Steam. Eneba's €7.68 with fees is €7.92 below Steam's sale price, and the gap grows to €11.82 once Steam goes back to €19.50 after 22 October. Enter the coupon at checkout; with-fees figures assume card payment.

Behind Eneba: Driffle at €7.37 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€8.04 with fees), Gamivo at €6.85 with GCDKGamivo (€8.08 with fees) and Gameboost at €8.69 with GCDK13 (€9.09 with fees). The Driffle and Gameboost keys are for the Europe region, so check that works for your account before you buy.

Two offers come in lower, and we'd skip both. Difmark sells a Steam Account for €3.77 with coupon Gocdkeys (€3.94 with fees), and Kinguin another for €6.58 with OCTGOC10 (€7.45 with fees). An account means you get the login of someone else's Steam account that owns the game. It never joins your library, and if the owner changes the password, you lose it.

How does €7.68 compare with what it has cost before?

All figures in our history are without fees or coupons. When Neon Abyss 2 entered early access, the key started at €10.99. Its median since then is €6.73 and the lowest we've recorded is €5.78, on 21 June. Out of 331 days on file, it was cheaper than today on 113. That makes this a normal price, neither a bargain nor a bad deal. If you'd rather wait for something closer to the June low, set a price alert and we'll email you when it drops.

Supporter Pack, Deluxe Edition and the Neon Abyss 1+2 bundle

Steam also sells the Supporter Pack DLC for €9.75 (no fees), the one that unlocks the new music player. The Deluxe Edition bundles the game, the Supporter Pack and Archenemy Returns for €26.32 (no fees) instead of €29.25. If you never played the first Neon Abyss, there's a bundle with both games for €18.53 (no fees).

69% or 87% positive, depending on which reviews you read

Counting reviews in every language, Steam rates it "Mixed": 69% positive out of 2,041, or 1,408 recommendations. Filter to English-language reviews only and the store page shows 87% of 415, "Very Positive".

Every store with fees included is on the page to buy Neon Abyss 2 key.
