Sixteen zombie games for PC: the shooter four friends still fire up at midnight, three Capcom nightmares that cost less than a pizza, and a strategy game that rebuilds your own streets after the outbreak. They carry 509 live offers in our catalogue, and the cheapest copy that ends up in your own library goes for €1.33 with fees.
We took these prices on 16 September at 07:55 UTC and they move every day. Each one shows up twice: what the store advertises, and what leaves your account once its payment fee is added. Coupons are named with the price.
One word on formats. A Steam Key drops into your library and the game is yours for good. A Steam Account means logging into somebody else's profile, and the seller can pull that access whenever it suits them. On several of these titles the cheapest offer is an account. We'll flag those, and we'll still send you to the key.
Survival runs that eat your weekends
7 Days to Die is the heavyweight of this group. The Fun Pimps built a voxel world you can dig through, collapse and rebuild into a fortress, and every seventh night it throws a horde at whatever you made. Crafting, cars, co-op, and a difficulty curve that punishes bad carpentry. Steam players call it Very Positive, 238,002 in favour against 35,564 against, and it has 57 live offers, more than any other game in this guide.
Steam wants €43.99, no fees. Gamivo has the Steam Key at €11.20 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€12.58 with fees), so €31.41 stays in your pocket. Difmark lists a shared account far below that, €4.19 with coupon Gocdkeys (€4.38 with fees), and this is exactly the kind of game where that's a bad trade: a hundred hours of base building on a profile that isn't yours.
State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition cares about the people rather than the shooting. Undead Labs hands you survivors with names, skills and moods, a base to fortify and a county to strip for supplies. Send the wrong one out at night and they don't come back. Very Positive on Steam, 8,628 positive reviews to 1,894.
Valve sells it for €16.79, no fees. Difmark Digital Keys has the Steam Key at €2.54 with coupon Gocdkeys (€2.65 with fees), the price of a coffee.
HumanitZ looks at the apocalypse from overhead. Yodubzz Studios sends you across a ruined country on foot or in whatever vehicle you can patch up, raiding towns for food and ammo. It's the only game here that Steam rates Mostly Positive, 8,251 positive reviews to 2,899, and that ratio is worth knowing before you buy: it's rougher than its neighbours in this section.
Gamivo's Steam Key costs €4.19 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€5.09 with fees), against €18.49 on Steam, no fees.
SurrounDead comes from the developer Zurvivor: an open world to loot, a base to fill with what you find, and no multiplayer to hide behind. Players took to it anyway, 22,319 positive against 2,207 negative, Very Positive.
Here, hunting for a bargain barely pays. G2A has the Steam Key at €10.86 (€11.15 with fees), Steam charges €11.79, no fees, and the difference is 64 cents. Buy it wherever you feel more comfortable.
Capcom's horror, plus one nightmare from Tango Gameworks
These four are the polished end of the genre, and three of them sit in the Overwhelmingly Positive bracket on Steam. They're also, right now, the best value per euro in the whole guide.
Resident Evil 2 / Biohazard RE:2 rebuilt the Raccoon City police station from the ground up. Leon and Claire get their own campaigns through the same building, and Mr. X follows you through both of them with no hurry at all. 151,326 positive reviews to 4,680 negative, Overwhelmingly Positive, and an 89 on Metacritic.
Steam asks €7.99, no fees. Gamivo's Steam Key is €4.74 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€5.66 with fees). There are 46 live offers on this one, so the price moves often.
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is the one that moved the camera behind your eyes and locked you in a Louisiana farmhouse with the Baker family. It's the most claustrophobic thing Capcom has made in years, and it's the cheapest key of the four: Gamivo sells it at €3.89 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€4.78 with fees), against €7.99 on Steam, no fees. Overwhelmingly Positive, 83,372 to 4,388, with 83 on Metacritic.
Resident Evil 4, the remake, holds the highest Metacritic score in this guide with a 91. Leon goes into a Spanish village after the president's daughter, the camera sits over his shoulder, and the knife parry turns every crowd into a puzzle you solve at arm's length. Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam, 180,942 against 5,596.
Steam has it at €9.99, no fees, and Gamivo's Steam Key at €5.81 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€7.01 with fees) is the sensible way to buy Resident Evil 4 key today. Difmark's shared account, €5.54 with coupon Gocdkeys (€5.79 with fees), undercuts that key by €1.22. One euro and change is not a reason to play somebody else's copy.
The Evil Within 2 comes from Tango Gameworks, who let you roam this time: Sebastian Castellanos goes back into the machine to look for his daughter, and the town of Union opens up into areas you scavenge for crafting parts between the scripted set pieces. Very Positive, 17,997 to 1,780, and 80 on Metacritic.
Steam still charges €29.99, no fees, while G2A has the Steam Key at €5.33 with coupon GCKG2AU1M4D (€5.62 with fees), a gap of €24.37. Driffle's shared account is the single cheapest offer anywhere in this guide, €0.86 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€1.29 with fees), and it's also the one we'd trust least. The key costs €4.33 more and nobody can take it off you.
Four players, one horde
Left 4 Dead 2 has more Steam reviews than the other fifteen games here put together would need to look busy: 816,220 of them, 791,733 positive to 24,487 negative, Overwhelmingly Positive. Valve's four survivors, the campaigns everyone can still name, the special infected, Versus mode, and a Director that decides when you get a break. Metacritic gave it an 89.
It has the fewest offers in this guide, 14, and there's a reason: Valve keeps the list price at €9.75, no fees, which leaves resellers very little room. Gamivo still gets under it with a Steam Key at €6.60 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€7.82 with fees). If your Friday night depends on it, this is where to buy Left 4 Dead 2 key, and it's worth a look at the live offers first: fourteen stores is enough for the cheapest to change between weekends.
Killing Floor 2 is Tripwire's answer to the same itch: waves of Zeds, ten perks to level, and a slow-motion gore system. Very Positive, 76,696 to 10,458, and a 75 on Metacritic.
This is where a resale key stops being a small saving and turns into a different price bracket. Steam wants €27.99, no fees. Difmark Digital Keys sells the Steam Key for €1.76 with coupon Gocdkeys (€1.84 with fees), which is €26.15 less for the same game in the same library.
Zombie Army Trilogy does the same trick even harder. Rebellion took the Sniper Elite formula, replaced the soldiers with the undead, kept the X-ray kill cam and built three campaigns for four players. Very Positive, 12,141 to 2,143, with 72 on Metacritic.
Steam's €41.99, no fees, is the highest sticker price in this guide. HRKGame has the Steam Key at €0.93 with coupon Gocdkeys12 (€1.33 with fees), €40.66 below Valve, and that makes it the cheapest copy of anything here that stays in your name.
GTFO is the hard one. 10 Chambers designed it for four players who talk to each other: you creep into a sealed complex, scan doors, kill sleeping monsters quietly, and at the first mistake the expedition starts again. Very Positive, 39,712 to 6,465, and 78 on Metacritic.
Steam charges €39.99, no fees, while Driffle has the Steam Key at €7.70 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€8.38 with fees). Four copies at that price cost less than one at Valve's.
The ones you play for the story
The Walking Dead is Telltale's first season, the one where you play Lee, you meet Clementine, and the choices you make in five episodes come back for you. The review split says everything about how it landed: 52,037 positive against 1,609 negative, Overwhelmingly Positive, with an 82 on Metacritic.
Steam lists it at €14.79, no fees. Difmark Digital Keys has the Steam Key at €1.60 with coupon Gocdkeys (€1.67 with fees), which is the second-cheapest copy in this guide.
The Walking Dead: The Final Season closes the arc with Clementine grown up and AJ in tow, holed up in a boarding school run by teenagers. Very Positive, 16,398 to 1,047, and 77 on Metacritic.
G2A's Steam Key costs €3.66 with coupon GCKG2AU1M4D (€3.95 with fees) against €19.50 on Steam, no fees. Driffle has a shared account at €1.76 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€2.22 with fees). Saving €1.73 to lose the ending of a story you played for years is a poor deal.
Days Gone is the big-budget one. Bend Studio put Deacon St. John on a motorbike in post-outbreak Oregon, with fuel to find, camps to work for and hordes of hundreds of freakers that chase you across entire valleys. Very Positive on Steam, 76,039 to 6,612.
Steam asks €39.99, no fees, and Gamivo's Steam Key comes in at €12.44 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€13.87 with fees). Driffle's shared account here is the odd one out: at €25.48 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€26.80 with fees) it costs €12.93 more than the key that leaves the game on your own account.
Can you stop an outbreak from a map?
Infection Free Zone is the only strategy game in the selection, and its hook is that it builds the map out of real-world data. Jutsu Games lets you drop the outbreak on your own neighbourhood, the supermarket you actually shop at, and then you ration food, send squads to scavenge and wall off the blocks you can hold. Very Positive, 13,249 positive to 3,312 negative.
It's also the one case in this guide where the resale key loses outright. Driffle's Steam Key costs €21.55 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€22.73 with fees), while Valve sells it for €17.24, no fees: €5.49 less, from the official store, with nothing to check afterwards. There's a shared account at Driffle for €6.57 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€7.21 with fees), with the usual catch. Comparing prices is supposed to end like this sometimes.
If you'd rather wait for the resale price to come down, you can set a price alert and let it tell you when a key drops under Valve's number.
What a shared account actually costs you
Six of these sixteen have a Steam Account offer sitting below the cheapest key, and the numbers look tempting written down: The Evil Within 2 at €1.29 with fees, The Walking Dead: The Final Season at €2.22, 7 Days to Die at €4.38, Resident Evil 4 at €5.79, Infection Free Zone at €7.21, Days Gone at €26.80.
What you're buying there is a login. The game lives on someone else's profile, your saves live with it, and if the seller changes the password there's nobody to appeal to. In three of those six the key costs under five euros more, and with Days Gone the key is the cheaper of the two anyway.
The other habit worth picking up is reading the second number. A key advertised at €0.93 arrives at €1.33 once the payment fee is on, and the cheapest offer changes depending on which of the two you read.

Take the cheapest keeper of each and the sixteen come to €110.64 with fees. The same sixteen bought one by one on Steam add up to €358.26, no fees, so the difference is €247.62, and €98.42 of that comes from Zombie Army Trilogy, Killing Floor 2 and GTFO alone.
Nobody needs all sixteen. To play tonight with friends, Left 4 Dead 2 at €6.60 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€7.82 with fees) still does the job better than anything newer. To be properly scared on your own, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard at €3.89 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€4.78 with fees) is the cheapest good fright here.
