Steam is selling the Yakuza Kiwami & Yakuza Kiwami 2 Bundle for €14.98 (no fees) until 8 October, half its usual €29.99. In the same sale each game costs €9.99 (no fees) on its own, so the bundle takes another five euros off. We checked whether keys from other stores come close. This time they don't.
What the €14.98 bundle gets you
Both games are remakes of the first two Yakuza: Kazuma Kiryu's story from the beginning, plus Majima Saga in Kiwami 2, a side scenario about Goro Majima set between the two games. The bundle has the versions Steam has sold since last December, with text in Spanish, French, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese, among other languages.
The originals are now called Yakuza Kiwami (Legacy) and Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Legacy) and can no longer be bought on Steam. Steam says the game content is the same, but Legacy saves do not carry over to the new versions. If you already own one of the two, Steam bundles only charge you for what you are missing, so your price may be lower.
Kiwami and Kiwami 2 bought separately elsewhere
The cheapest key for Yakuza Kiwami is at G2A: €9.57 with coupon GCKG2AW4Z8R (€9.86 with fees), Steam Key. G2A's listing is the new edition, not the Legacy one. Against Steam's €9.99 you save 13 cents.
For Yakuza Kiwami 2, Gameboost has the cheapest key at €8.84 with coupon GCDK13 (€9.25 with fees), Steam Key. Gamivo goes lower with a Steam Gift, €7.22 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€8.46 with fees): the seller sends the game to your Steam account as a gift.
Take the cheapest option for each and you pay €18.32 with the gift, or €19.11 with two keys. Both are well above the €14.98 of the bundle, so if you want the pair, buy it on Steam.
Some stores still sell the Legacy versions
Some stores still list the old version. Kinguin labels its Kiwami key as Legacy, €9.81 with coupon OCTGOC10 (€10.94 with fees), Steam Key, and that copy lacks the new text languages. Legacy owners can move to the new Kiwami for €1.99 on Steam. Kiwami 2 owners got the new version free when it came out; we could not confirm that a Legacy key activated today gets the same treatment.
So read the listing before you pay. For Kiwami 2, Driffle names the new version in its listing: €9.59 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€10.34 with fees), Steam Key. Gameboost's listing does not say which version it sells.
How low these two usually go
In our key-only history the usual price is €9.94 for Kiwami and €8.99 for Kiwami 2, store prices before coupons and fees. Today's keys sit right on that line. Since late April the lowest we logged was €9.69 for Kiwami and €7.96 for Kiwami 2, again without fees and mixing formats. The originals went much lower years ago, under €3 for Kiwami, but those were the Legacy editions in a different market.
Waiting for keys to drop has not paid off for months, and the Steam bundle ends on 8 October. If you would rather wait anyway, set a price alert.
On Steam the new versions are rated Very Positive: 82% of 1,379 reviews for Kiwami and 82% of 1,169 for Kiwami 2. The Legacy pages, same game with fewer languages, show 94% of 14,285 (Very Positive) and 95% of 10,749 (Overwhelmingly Positive). Critics on Metacritic gave them 80 and 82.
Next in the series is Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, out since February and not part of the bundle. There a key does beat Steam: Gamivo has it at €12.82 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€14.26 with fees), Steam Key, while Steam asks €29.99 (no fees) in the same sale. Its Steam reviews are Mixed, 59% of 952. Store by store: Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties.
All the offers are on the pages to buy Yakuza Kiwami key and buy Yakuza Kiwami 2 key.
Prices checked on the morning of 3 October.
