On 29 July 2026, 505 Games confirmed that a sequel to WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is in its preparation phase. Every outlet ran the story the same day. What almost none of them answered is the question a buyer actually has: does an announcement like this change what the original costs? We track 76 live offers for it, so we can answer with numbers rather than a guess. Prices below are pulled live from our comparison for WUCHANG Fallen Feathers on PC.
What was actually announced
505 Games has partnered with Indolphinity, a new Chengdu studio formed by Xia Siyuan, the director of the original game. 505 Games acquired the IP from Leenzee, the studio that made the first game, and is putting an initial 21.5 million euro investment behind the follow-up. The wording used was "preparation phase", which is developer-speak for pre-production. There is no title, no platforms and no window.
That last part matters more than the headline. A game in pre-production is years away, and a sequel that is years away has no effect on the shelf price of the one that is already out.
Why a sequel announcement does not make a game cheaper
It is an intuitive assumption and it is wrong. Publishers cut prices for three reasons, and none of them is "we told people about the next one":
- A seasonal sale. The big storefront events are what set the floor for most of the year.
- An anniversary or a content drop. A discount timed to bring lapsed players back.
- Key supply. On the reseller side, a batch of cheap regional or bundle keys can drag the floor down for weeks with no publisher involvement at all.
If anything, a sequel announcement pushes interest up, which is the opposite of the pressure that produces a discount.
What the price has actually done
WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers launched on 24 July 2025, so it has just passed its first year. In our own price tracking the floor has been flat since May 2026 and it did not move on the day of the announcement either. What has stayed wide is the gap between formats and regions, which is where the real saving is:

The spread between the cheapest Global key and the cheapest Europe key is larger than any discount the announcement could plausibly have triggered. Picking the right listing is worth more than waiting.
Read the format before the number
The lowest figure on any comparison page is not always a key you own. Three things get listed side by side:
- Standard - a code you redeem on your own account. This is what most people want.
- Steam Gift - a gift transfer rather than a code. It works, but it usually needs the seller to send it to your account.
- Steam Account - login credentials for an account that already owns the game. The game is not on your library and it is not yours.
Buy now or wait?
Our read: the announcement is not a reason to wait, and it is not a reason to rush either. The floor has been stable for three months and there is no scheduled event pushing it lower this week.
