The Monster Hunter Rise discount on Steam has ended. Steam had the base game at €3.99 (-90%) on 7 October and the Sunbreak expansion at €5.99 from 2 to 9 October. This morning both are back to €39.99 each (no fees), and the bundle with the two costs €59.99. Key stores are still selling both for a few euros: the cheapest Steam Key for Rise is at LDShop for €2.64 with coupon LDKEY15 (€2.97 with fees), and Gameseal has Sunbreak at €3.64 with coupon SEAL17CKD (€4.32 with fees).

Rise first, Sunbreak on top

Capcom released Rise on PC in January almost five years ago, and on 6 October it announced that the game had passed 20 million copies sold. Sunbreak is the paid expansion. It adds Master Rank, new monsters and new areas to hunt in, and it won't run on its own: you need the base game on the same Steam account.

Critics liked both. Rise has a 90/100 on OpenCritic with the "Mighty" badge from 223 reviews, and 96% of critics recommend it. We don't have its Steam user rating in our data, so OpenCritic is the reference here. Sunbreak also scores 90 on OpenCritic ("Mighty", 101 reviews), while on Steam it sits at "Mixed", with 64% of 4,821 reviews positive.

The base game alone: €2.97 instead of €39.99

There are 69 offers from 21 verified stores. These are the cheapest Steam Keys for the standard edition this morning:

  • LDShop: €2.64 with coupon LDKEY15 (€2.97 with fees)
  • GamesPlanet: €3.41 (no fees)
  • K4G: €2.86 with coupon GCDK14DEAL (€3.50 with fees), Europe region
  • Kinguin: €2.97 with coupon OCTGOC10 (€3.56 with fees), Europe region

Europe-region keys activate on European Steam accounts, so they're fine if you buy from anywhere in the EU. If you'd rather not bother with coupons, GamesPlanet charges no fees and the price you see is the price you pay.

You may also spot a Steam Account from Difmark at €1.68 with coupon Gocdkeys (€1.76 with fees). It's cheaper, but you don't get a copy of the game for your own account. You get access to a separate Steam account that already owns Rise, so your save, your friends list and any Sunbreak you buy later would sit on an account that isn't yours. For €1.21 more, a key puts the game in your own library, which is why we recommend it.

Sunbreak from €4.32

The expansion has even more offers, 96 across 21 stores. The cheapest this morning:

  • Gameseal: €3.64 with coupon SEAL17CKD (€4.32 with fees), Europe region
  • K4G: €3.94 with coupon GCDK14DEAL (€4.67 with fees), Europe region
  • Instant Gaming: €4.69 (no fees)
  • GamesPlanet: €5.04 (no fees)

Before you buy it, make sure Rise is already on your Steam account, or get both at once. A Sunbreak key on its own won't let you play.

Game and expansion: two purchases or one bundle?

OptionPrice
Rise at LDShop + Sunbreak at Gameseal (Steam Keys)€6.28 with coupons LDKEY15 and SEAL17CKD (€7.29 with fees)
Rise + Sunbreak bundle at GamesPlanet€7.93 (no fees)
Rise + Sunbreak bundle on Steam€59.99 (no fees)

Buying the two keys separately saves you €0.64, but it means two orders, two coupons and two activations. The GamesPlanet bundle is a single purchase with no fees on top. Whichever you pick, you're paying about €52 less than on Steam.

Is this a good moment to buy?

We have 283 days of price data for the Rise key. The median is €5.56 and the lowest price was €2.91 on 7 October, in the middle of the Steam sale (both figures without fees, like all our price history). In that whole time a key has only cost less than GamesPlanet's €3.41 (no fees) on 41 days.

So the current price is well below normal, and LDShop's key costs less today than Steam was asking at 90% off. If you'd still rather wait, set a price alert for Monster Hunter Rise and we'll email you when it reaches the price you choose.

Every offer, fees included, is on the page to buy Monster Hunter Rise key. The expansion's are on the Sunbreak page.

Prices checked on the morning of 17 October.
