CD Projekt RED gave The Witcher 3 Remastered a date at Gamescom on 25 August: it lands on 29 September, and it is free for people who already own the game on qualifying platforms. Our Witcher 3 pages went from a handful of clicks a day to over a thousand in forty-eight hours, and a good share of that is landing on the console entries rather than PC.
Which is where it gets awkward. The PlayStation 5 page opens at € (with coupon Gocdkeys). The Xbox page opens at € (with coupon Gocdkeys). Neither of those is a copy of the game, and on one of those two machines that is the whole market rather than a curiosity at the bottom of the list.
What each console actually has on the shelf
Same game, four entries on our site, and four completely different shop windows. Live right now:

Read the two right-hand columns together and the picture is not subtle. On Xbox the gap between an account and a real code is a few euros. On Switch the code costs more than four times the account. On PlayStation 5 there is no code at all, at any price.
Xbox is the one console here with a working market
Forty-four live offers across fifteen shops, and only six of them are accounts. Nineteen are Xbox keys, from € (with coupon Gocdkeys) at Difmark Digital Keys. Fourteen more are the Complete Ed. at € (with coupon GCDK14DEAL) from K4G, which is the one that already carries Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Another five are labelled GOTY Ed., at € (with coupon GOCDKEYS10).
There is a second Xbox entry on the site for the Game of the Year edition, with eleven offers of its own and a GOTY Ed. at € (with coupon AUGGOC10). Worth opening the GOTY page before you assume the main entry is cheaper — this week it is not always true.

So why does the PlayStation list look so cheap?
Because four of the six PlayStation 5 offers are accounts. What changes hands there is the login of an account somebody else created and still controls. The game sits in that account. It does not move into yours, ever.
That has always been a poor trade, and this month it is worse for a reason specific to the announcement. If the free remaster is handed to the account that owns the game, and that account is the seller's, you have paid five euros to watch a stranger's library get upgraded on 29 September.
The only two things on the PlayStation 5 page that genuinely become yours are Sony's own: Standard at and Complete Ed. at €. The PlayStation 4 entry has the same shape — five of its seven offers are accounts, and the only alternative is a Standard at €. The PS4 Game of the Year entry is down to two offers and both of them are accounts.
Switch: eight accounts and a single code
Nine offers, six shops, and eight of the nine are accounts. Cheapest is € (with coupon Gocdkeys) at Difmark. The one thing on that page you can redeem into your own Nintendo profile is an eShop Code at €, from Gaming Dragons.
That is the whole Switch market as it stands. One code, priced well above everything around it, and a wall of logins underneath. If you want the Complete Edition on Switch and you want to own it, the eShop is the honest comparison to make before you decide — check the Switch page and look at the format label on each row, not just the number.
What we would actually do this week
On Xbox, the Complete Ed. at K4G for € (with coupon GCDK14DEAL). Both expansions, a code that redeems into your own account, and under ten euros. If you only want the base game, the cheapest Xbox key is € (with coupon Gocdkeys) — the anchor to go straight to the list is buy The Witcher 3 key.
On PlayStation and Switch we would not touch the accounts, however tempting the number is. Sony's own Standard at is the cheapest thing on that page that will still be yours next month.
And the caveat we are not going to bury: CD Projekt RED wrote "qualifying platforms" and has not published the list. PC, Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series all sell the game; that is not the same statement as all four qualifying. Nobody can promise you a console copy earns the upgrade, so buy the console version because you want to play it there, not because you are counting on 29 September.
