Wardogs: which edition and format to buy, and why some copies cost half

Two listings for the same game, one at roughly half the price of the other, and nothing on the page explaining why. It happens with almost every launch and it is happening with Wardogs. What editions does Wardogs have?

Two, and the difference is cosmetic in the literal sense. Standard is the game. Supporter Edition is the same game plus decorative extras — weapon camos, a helicopter paint job, a scoreboard tag. No maps, no weapons, no vehicles, no progression advantage. Nothing in it changes a single match.

That matters because the Supporter Edition consistently costs about a quarter more than Standard. If you want to back the studio early, that is a fine reason to pay it. If you are looking for content, there is none to find: you are buying camo.

Key, gift or account: the part that actually matters

This is where the big price gaps come from, and it is not really about money — it is about what you own afterwards.

The cheapest Wardogs listings you will see anywhere are accounts, and they sit at roughly half the price of a key. That is the whole explanation for the gap. You are not buying the game; you are being handed access to somebody else's account with the game inside. The seller keeps the password, it goes against Steam's terms of service, and if the credentials change you lose everything — including any progress you built.

Gifts sit at the other end: they usually cost more than a plain key, because they are region-transferable in ways a key is not. For most buyers they are the wrong trade.

Global or Europe: does the region matter?

It matters, and it is the detail people skip. A Global key activates from anywhere. A Europe key expects a European Steam account and can be refused outside that area. European keys are frequently the cheaper line, which is fine if you are buying from Europe and a wasted purchase if you are not. Every listing states its region next to the price.

So which one should you buy?

For almost everyone: a Standard Steam Key in your own region. It is the version that stays in your library, works with your own account, and keeps your progress if anything goes wrong with the seller. Go Supporter only if the camo is worth the extra to you, and treat account listings as what they are — cheap because you are not buying the game.

One thing specific to this release: because Wardogs is in early access and its price is set to rise as content lands rather than fall in a sale, the usual advice of "wait for the discount" does not apply here. There is no launch-window discount coming.
