Buy the Eneba code at €6.42. That is the answer for anyone who wants Sandustry in their own Steam library without paying the €14.99 Steam asks. There are 28 offers from 13 stores on our page today, five of them cheaper than that, and none of those five is a copy of the game. The rest of this is the reasoning.
Sand that behaves like sand, and 4,191 reviews in three weeks
Sandustry arrived on Steam in early access on 13 August. It is made by Lantto Games and published by Hooded Horse, the publisher behind Manor Lords. It is a 2D factory game where the material is the point: you dig, the sand pours and the liquids flow like actual matter, you run belts and pipes through it, and you can tear the ground apart when it gets in the way.
Three weeks on, Steam has it at Overwhelmingly Positive, 4,065 positive reviews out of 4,191, or 97%. For a game this new that is a lot of people who bothered to write something. It is still early access, which brings the usual Steam pattern with it: the price tends to go up when a game leaves it. We are not saying that will happen here, only that it usually does.
Steam wants €14.99. GOG sells a DRM-free copy for €15.10.
Everything under €6 is a shared Steam account
Sort our page by price and the first five offers are Kinguin at €2.32, Gamivo at €4.08, Driffle at €4.65, G2A at €4.91 and K4G at €5.58. All five are Steam accounts. You pay for the login to an account someone else set up with the game on it. It does not enter your library, you cannot fold it into your own, and the day the seller changes the password you are locked out. At €2.32 the risk is small money, but it is still not buying the game.
Eight codes between €6.42 and €7.09
The first offer that puts Sandustry in your own library is Eneba at €6.42, Global region. It has company: Driffle €6.63 (Europe), Gamivo €6.65 (Europe), Eneba €6.75 (Europe), Kinguin €6.95 and €6.98 (Europe), Instant Gaming €6.99 (Global) and Cdkeys Com €7.09 (Global). Eight codes inside 67 cents. Further up, Eneba has a US-region code at €7.79, then Driffle €8.19, K4G €8.83, G2A €11.18 and Kinguin €13.50. Fourteen codes in all from the resale stores.
That spread tells you something useful. This is not one store with a handful of cheap codes that will be gone by tonight; there is plenty of stock, and if Eneba runs dry you lose twenty cents by moving to the next one. At €6.42 you are paying 57% less than Steam.
Five Steam Gift offers sit alongside: Difmark Digital Keys at €7.58, Gamivo €10.68, K4G €14.01, Driffle €14.41 and G2A €15.28. A gift is sent to you from another account and needs the regions to match, and the cheapest is more than a euro above the code, so there is no case for it. Among the official stores GamesPlanet has €12.92 in US region, Green Man Gaming and Steam €14.99, GOG €15.10.
The account floor keeps moving; the code does not
We have 262 readings since 6 August. On launch day the cheapest offer was a code at €6.99. Then the floor started sliding: €4.28 on 18 August, €3.12 from the 21st to the 25th, €4.45 at the end of the month, €2.58 on 2 September. Every one of those was an account. The code has stayed between €6.40 and €7 the whole time.
So when someone tells you Sandustry is down to two euros, read it as the account offers getting cheaper. The real floor for a copy of your own has not shifted in three weeks, and for a game this new and this well received, a code at 57% under Steam is already a good place to be. If you are going to buy Sandustry key, start at €6.42, check the region, and ignore the five accounts above it.
