A roguelike deckbuilder hands you a scrappy pile of cards, sends you out to die, and then asks whether you fancy another go with a different scrappy pile. Slay the Spire made that loop respectable. Balatro took it everywhere. In between there are dozens of games doing clever, ugly, wonderful things with the same idea, and most of them cost less than a takeaway.
The eighteen below all have live offers on our pages right now. For each one you get the Steam verdict in raw numbers, how many offers and how many stores the page is comparing, and the cheapest price with its format written out in full. That last part is where people get burned: on a good handful of these games the thing sitting at the top of the list is a shared account, not a copy you own. We flag it every time and put the first honest key right underneath.
Which one should you start with?
Balatro is poker played by someone with no respect whatsoever for poker. You score hands, yes, but every joker you pick up rewrites what a hand is worth, and by the last few blinds you are doing arithmetic that would get you removed from a casino. Steam's verdict is Overwhelmingly Positive: 155,047 positive out of 159,842. Steam charges €13.99, and our page is comparing 45 offers across 21 stores.
Look carefully at the top of that list. The two cheapest entries, €4.89 at Difmark and €7.42 at Kinguin, are shared accounts — you sign into a library that belongs to somebody else. The first genuine key is €8.79 at Cdkeys Com in Standard format, then €9.00 at Driffle, €9.08 at K4G, €9.10 at Kinguin and €9.19 at Eneba.
One thing about the live list above: several stores knock a coupon off at checkout, so the figures it shows can come in under the ones written here, which are the prices the stores are asking before any code is applied.
And then Slay the Spire, which wrote the rules everyone else bends. Three acts, a climb that branches, a deck you prune far more often than you feed. It is the most reviewed game here by a mile: 185,401 positive out of 191,135, Overwhelmingly Positive. Steam asks €22.99. The page carries 28 offers from 13 stores and the cheapest is a Standard key at €6.95, with Gamivo and Eneba tied. Kinguin sits two cents behind at €6.97, then €7.33 at Eneba and Driffle.
Slay the Spire 2 is the odd one out, twice over
The first oddity is the reception. Slay the Spire 2 is the only Mixed verdict on this list, and it is not a narrow Mixed: 110,519 positive out of 181,179, which means something like seventy thousand reviews that are not positive. There is no way to dress that up, so we won't.
The second oddity is rarer and worth a paragraph of its own. There is no key on sale for it. None. The 17 offers spread over 9 stores are shared accounts — €6.79 at Difmark, €7.88 at K4G, €8.96 at Kinguin, €11.01 at G2A — plus two Steam Gift transfers at €20.46 on Gamivo and €22.66 on Driffle. If you want a copy that is unambiguously yours, the cheapest clean purchase is Steam itself at €22.99. We would rather say that out loud than point you at a login.
Runs that follow a route
Monster Train 2 is the Spire flipped upside down. You hold three vertical floors at once, stacking units and spells so the wave dies before it reaches the top, and for the first couple of hours it reads as pure noise. Then it clicks and you stop sleeping. Overwhelmingly Positive, 8,170 positive out of 8,600. Steam wants €24.99 and there are 40 offers from 19 stores, but the bottom of the range is accounts again: €5.29 Difmark, €7.60 K4G, €8.59 Kinguin. The first real key is €14.17 at HRKGame, with Kinguin a cent behind at €14.18, Instant Gaming and Cdkeys Com both at €14.19, and Driffle at €14.22.
Cobalt Core swaps the climb for a spaceship and adds a second axis: your ship slides left and right, and half the deck exists to line up a shot that only lands two turns later. Overwhelmingly Positive, 3,849 out of 4,052. Steam lists it at €19.50; the 14 offers across 10 stores bottom out at €2.68 at Kinguin in Standard format, then €2.84 at HRKGame and €2.94 at Eneba.
StarVaders turns Space Invaders into a card game where the aliens telegraph everything and you get exactly one turn to answer. Different mechs rewrite how the grid behaves, so the same hand plays three ways. 3,632 positive out of 3,744 is one of the tightest ratios in this guide, Overwhelmingly Positive. Steam price is €17.75; the page finds €0.80 at Eneba in Standard across 27 offers in 14 stores, then €0.83 at Eneba again and €1.02 at Kinguin.
Where you put the card matters as much as which card it is
Four games that make space the real puzzle.
Backpack Battles has you Tetris a rucksack full of swords and cheese and then watch it fight somebody else's rucksack. You never take a turn once the fighting starts, so the packing is the entire game. Very Positive, 17,173 out of 18,871. Steam charges €14.79. The cheapest of the 26 offers in 14 stores is a €6.50 account at Kinguin, which you can skip; the first key is €8.66 at K4G, then €8.69 at Eneba and €8.82 at Kinguin.
Backpack Hero is the quieter single-player cousin, more hoarding than duelling, where items buff whatever sits next to them until the bag turns into a small machine. Very Positive, 6,290 positive out of 7,400. Steam €8.11, 28 offers, 17 stores. There is a €0.30 account at Difmark sitting on top; the first key is €0.59 at Kinguin, followed by €0.68 at Kinguin and €0.70 at K4G. Twenty-nine cents. There is nothing to think about.
Shogun Showdown queues your attacks up in front of you and lets the enemy read the queue. One lane, nowhere to hide, and most of a good run is spent deleting your own bad options rather than collecting new ones. Overwhelmingly Positive: 5,849 out of 6,157. Steam €14.99 against €0.33 at Kinguin here, Standard format, out of 29 offers in 16 stores. The next three all sit at €0.35 — Kinguin, K4G and HRKGame.
Die in the Dungeon uses dice instead of cards and a grid instead of a hand. You place your dice, they feed off their neighbours, and a rubbish roll becomes a placement problem rather than a death sentence. Very Positive, 2,932 out of 3,187. It is €14.99 on Steam and €3.42 at YUPLAY on our page in Standard format, from 27 offers across 14 stores, then €3.86 at Eneba and €3.96 at Difmark Digital Keys.
For people who want the game to do the gambling
Dicey Dungeons makes you a die, drops you into a game show and gives every class its own reason to be furious about probability. Very Positive, 9,151 out of 10,399. Steam €14.79. It has the thinnest coverage in this guide, 9 offers from 5 stores, and still gets down to €2.99 at Eneba in Standard, ahead of €3.51 at Gamivo and €5.40 at G2A.
Luck be a Landlord is a slot machine with rent to pay. You feed symbols onto the reels, the rent climbs every few spins, and by the last landlord visit you are praying for a combination you deliberately built. Very Positive, 9,486 out of 10,200. Steam €7.99; here it is €2.29 at Eneba in Standard format, then €2.44 at Kinguin and €2.54 at K4G, out of 17 offers in 9 stores.
Dungeons and Degenerate Gamblers is blackjack against a bar full of chancers, with a deck full of cards that cheat on your behalf. Very Positive, 2,402 positive out of 2,965 — the smallest review count in the guide. Steam €14.79, 21 offers, 14 stores, and the cheapest is a Standard key at €4.33 on Gamivo, with €4.40 at Kinguin and €4.50 at Driffle behind it.
Cheap, strange and worth the click
ROUNDS hardly looks like a deckbuilder until you notice that every round you lose hands you a card that makes you nastier. Two players, one keyboard, and a comeback mechanic that turns 0-4 into a real fight. Overwhelmingly Positive, 33,699 out of 35,473, and it is only €2.74 on Steam to begin with. Our page still finds €1.99 at Gamivo in Standard format across 16 offers from 13 stores, which makes it the cheapest thing in the whole guide.
9 Kings builds a kingdom out of cards you drop onto a tiny map and then throws a war at whatever you managed to assemble. Very Positive, 19,425 out of 21,114. Steam €9.99, 31 offers, 14 stores. The three cheapest are all accounts — €3.36 at K4G, €3.63 at Kinguin, €5.02 at G2A — and the first key is €6.18 at Eneba, with a second Eneba offer at €6.40.
Super Fantasy Kingdom is about rebuilding a base between nights while your draws decide what you can afford to lose. Very Positive, 4,793 out of 5,573. Steam €9.99, and the page is comparing 33 offers in 17 stores. The €5.02 at G2A is an account; the first key is €6.26 at Eneba, then €6.34 at Eneba and €6.36 at Driffle.
Wildfrost is the mean one. Cards run on countdown timers, one bad turn compounds into three, and the difficulty has clearly cost it some goodwill: 6,686 positive out of 8,154, Very Positive, the roughest ratio anywhere in this guide. Steam €19.99, 17 offers, 12 stores. Difmark's €3.49 is an account and the first key at Eneba is €3.93. Forty-four cents apart. There is no excuse available to you.
Book of Demons is the outlier of the eighteen: a Diablo parody built out of paper cut-outs where your spells are cards and the dungeon folds up like a pop-up book. Very Positive, 7,294 out of 8,015. Steam is still asking €22.99 for it, and Kinguin has it at €0.69 in Standard format among 21 offers from 10 stores. That is €22.30 under the Steam price, the biggest drop in euros on this entire list.
Check the format before you pay
The same warning applies to all eighteen pages. The number at the very top is not always a copy. An account means signing into somebody else's library, and it can stop working the day that person decides otherwise. A Steam Gift is a transfer — perfectly usable, but not the same thing as a code you redeem into your own account. The format is written next to every offer, so checking costs you two seconds.
