Teardown's multiplayer update arrived on 15 September, and it is free for anyone who already owns the game. Up to twelve players, the entire forty-mission campaign, and a sandbox mode where nobody ever runs out of anything. That is a long way from the quiet solo game people bought to take a warehouse apart on their own.
The same day, Teardown landed on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. So the question stops being academic: PC or console? The two versions are not treated the same once mods enter the conversation, and on PC something else happened this week that is worth putting on the record.
Twelve players, forty missions and three competitive modes
Online co-op is the centrepiece. The full campaign, all forty missions, with up to twelve people in the same session. Alongside it there is a sandbox mode with unlimited resources, which is roughly what happens when you hand a dozen people an endless supply of explosives and no objective at all.
Then the competitive side: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag. In a game where every wall is optional, a flag run does not play like a flag run anywhere else.
None of it costs extra. If Teardown is already in your library, the update is simply there waiting.
Mods arrive in numbered packs on console, and not on PC
This is the real gap between the versions, and it is the one to understand before you pay for either.
The console release ships alongside Mod Pack 6. The name is the explanation: the studio gathers community work and releases it in numbered batches. This one brings thirty new community-made game modes, more than forty console mods from earlier packs brought up to date, and two official multiplayer maps.
That is a generous amount of content, already checked and already working. What you give up is timing and choice. You get what is in the pack, when the pack ships.
On PC the mod catalogue is open and nobody numbers anything. You install what you like, the day it exists, and in exchange you sort the good from the broken yourself.
So the rule of thumb writes itself. If digging through mods is half the fun, buy it on PC. If you would rather sit down and play something somebody else has already vetted, the console packs do that job for you.
€14.48 on the 16th, €27.18 today
Two facts, both with a date on them. We are going to set them side by side and leave it there.
Until 16 September, our records had Driffle selling Teardown at €14.48. That offer is no longer live. As of 17 September, the cheapest PC copy on the page is €26.89 (€27.18 with fees), Steam Gift, at G2A.
The floor of our comparison has doubled inside the same week the update landed. Whether one thing caused the other, we do not know, and we are not going to imply it. What can be said is that anyone who bought a week ago paid half.
Our own price log runs back almost six years: 2,743 readings, average €36.78. Those are raw shop prices, before payment fees and before any coupon. Month by month, the lowest we recorded was €14.48 this month, €13.53 in August, €16.99 in July, €16.99 in June and €17.61 in both May and April. Today you are comfortably below the six-year average, and at roughly double what the summer was asking.
If that reads like a poor week to buy, there is a way to stop checking every morning: set a price alert and let it do the watching.
Eight shops, and almost a hundred euros between them
Eighteen live offers across eight shops, all of them for the PC version. Every price appears twice below: what the shop advertises, and what leaves your card once its payment fee is added.
- G2A: €26.89 (€27.18 with fees), Steam Gift.
- Eneba: €24.76 with the coupon Gocdkeys10 (€27.44 with fees), Standard.
- G2A: €29.04 with the coupon GCKG2AH9K2L (€29.33 with fees), Steam Gift.
- K4G: €28.01 with the coupon GCDK14DEAL (€30.79 with fees), Steam Account.
- Difmark Digital Keys: €33.26 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€34.76 with fees), Standard.
Twenty-six cents separate the top two, and they are not the same product. G2A sends a Steam Gift, which reaches you as a present you have to accept; Eneba sells a plain Standard copy. For twenty-six cents we would take the Standard every time.
The K4G entry at €30.79 with fees is the only Steam Account on the page. That means logging into somebody else's account instead of owning a copy, and it costs more than the two offers above it. Walk past.
At the far end sits the same game, Standard format, at €125.73 with fees. Almost a hundred euros between the cheapest and the dearest offer on a single page, which is the whole reason anybody checks a comparison before paying.
Ultimate or Standard
Eleven of the eighteen offers are Standard, three are Steam Gift, three are the Ultimate edition and one is that account. Ultimate starts at G2A, €45.62 (€45.91 with fees), and climbs steeply from there.
What exactly Ultimate adds is not something we have verified, so we are not going to guess at it. The measurable part is the gap: around €18 over the cheapest Standard. Read the edition contents on the shop page before deciding that is money well spent.
One more thing we will not invent while we are being honest. Teardown has no Steam verdict recorded on our page, and the critic score that reaches us is not reliable either, so neither appears in this article.
PC or console, then
Buying to play with friends and never touch a mod folder? The console version is the comfortable answer. The packs arrive curated and you play.
Buying because the mods are half the appeal? It has to be PC. The open catalogue is this version's advantage, and the update does not change that.
On money, the PC page asks €27.18 with fees at the very least today, with a €125 offer for the identical game a few rows further down, so read the list properly before you click. Once you have picked a shop you trust, buy Teardown key there and get on with it.
