KUNOS Simulazioni has shipped update 0.9 for Assetto Corsa EVO, and for once the notes touch the racing itself: pit stops are now compulsory, and three more cars join the garage.
The sim went into early access on Steam on the 16th of January last year, published by 505 Games. A year and a half in, the sensible question is no longer what it will become but what you get for your money today. Steam asks €39.99 for it. The lowest number you see anywhere else is under a third of that, and it does not buy you a licence.
What update 0.9 changes on track
The compulsory stop is the change that matters. You can no longer run an event start to finish without lifting, so fuel and tyre wear turn into decisions instead of readouts you ignore. Three new cars come with it.
There is no date for version 1.0. KUNOS has not given one.
The Steam score is split almost down the middle
16,343 people have reviewed it and 9,806 of those reviews are positive. Steam files that under Mixed. Four buyers in ten walked away unhappy, which is a heavy number for a studio whose earlier sims are still recommended without hesitation.
There is no reliable critic average to weigh against it, so the players are your only reading. Open a dozen reviews from both camps before you spend anything.
The cheapest offers are accounts, not licences
Right now there are 56 live offers across 22 stores. The four cheapest are Steam accounts: Difmark at €11.99, Kinguin at €13.58, HRKGame at €14.26 and CJS-CDKeys at €16.43. A fifth account follows, G2A at €19.42.
The first genuine licence, listed as a Steam Key, is Eneba at €19.14 — cheaper than that fifth account, so the accounts are not even winning on price all the way down. CDKeys follows at €19.79, then the field bunches up: Kinguin at €19.94, Driffle and Kinguin at €19.96, CJS-CDKeys at €20.00, HRKGame at €20.36, Driffle at €20.38, HRKGame again at €20.39, Kinguin at €20.40, Gameseal and Gamivo at €20.55, Driffle at €20.59, K4G at €20.80. Eighteen licences from ten different stores sit between €19.14 and €21.30, so which store you trust matters far more than the odd cent.

Five months of measurements, and two finished sims for less
We have been logging this price since the end of April: 2,549 readings. The floor across all of them is €9.60, hit in July. Every other month bottomed out at €11.99.

One honest note to close on. If what you want tonight is a driving sim that is finished, this same series has two of them for under four euros. The original Assetto Corsa holds 124,647 positive reviews out of 135,486 and starts at € (with coupon GCDKGamivo), with the Ultimate edition and its DLC from €11.78. Assetto Corsa Competizione stands at 30,847 positive out of 33,529 and starts at € (with coupon GCDKGamivo). EVO is bought for what it is going to be. Those two are already done.
