Playing The Talos Principle 2 through PlayStation Plus and nowhere near the end? You'll need to decide before 17 November whether to buy it on PS5 or move to PC. On PS5 the answer is simple: the PlayStation Store price is already low. On PC a key is cheaper today, but it was a lot cheaper six days ago.
Seven games leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium
The list has turned up early on the Japanese PlayStation Store, which already shows these seven games leaving the Extra and Premium catalogue on 17 November: Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V, Football Manager 26, Cricket 24, Thank Goodness You're Here, Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break and The Talos Principle 2. Departures in Europe and the US usually match Japan's, but Sony hasn't announced them here yet, so treat the date with a little caution.
If you buy the game, your PS Plus save carries over and you pick up where you left off.
Puzzles, lasers and a robot called 1K
Croteam's sequel, published by Devolver Digital, puts you in the body of 1K, the thousandth robot born in New Jerusalem, a city of machines that inherited the Earth after humans died out. The puzzles are built from lasers, connectors and blocks, spread across a mysterious island, and between them there are long philosophical conversations you can take or leave. You don't need to have played the first game to follow it.
On Steam the PC version is Very Positive, 94% of 12,724 reviews, and it averages 89 from 63 critic reviews on OpenCritic.
The PS5 version: €8.99 at the PlayStation Store
Sony sells it for €8.99 (no fees). That's an official purchase on your own account, so it stays with you whatever happens to your subscription. The cheaper offers on PS5 are accounts: Key4Games at €6.49 with coupon GOCDKEYS15 (€7.03 with fees) and Difmark at €7.55 with Gocdkeys (€7.89 with fees). An account is the login for someone else's PSN account that already owns the game, not a purchase in your name. When the gap with the official store is less than €2, we'd buy from Sony.
We can't tell you whether it will drop before the 17th. We've only tracked the PS5 version for 16 days, and in all that time the price has stayed at €8.99. Every option is on the page to buy The Talos Principle 2 key for PS5.
On PC it was €2.46 six days ago
If you have a PC that can run it, the PC version is the better deal on paper, with a caveat. The cheapest global Steam Keys this morning are Gamivo at €6.45 with GCDKGamivo (€7.67 with fees), G2A at €7.51 with GCKG2AC9Q3M (€7.80 with fees) and K4G at €7.42 with GCDK14DEAL (€8.45 with fees). Steam asks €28.99 (no fees). We have 19 offers in stock.
The caveat: on 14 October a key went for €2.46, the lowest we've recorded, while the median is €6.59. Our price history doesn't include fees. Less than a week ago it cost under half of today's price, so if you're not in a hurry, set a price alert for the PC version and wait for it to come round again.
Road to Elysium, and what Xbox owners pay
The Road to Elysium expansion is only in our data for PC: Eneba has it for €8.97 with Gocdkeys10 (€10.28 with fees), Instant Gaming for €10.29 (no fees), and Steam for €19.50. Steam players rate it Very Positive, 94% of 778 reviews, the same score as the main game.
On Xbox the cheapest offer is an account at Key4Games, €4.33 with GOCDKEYS15 (€4.78 with fees), while the Microsoft Store charges €29.99.
For a PS Plus player who wants to finish their save, €8.99 on the PlayStation Store is the straightforward choice. If you'd rather own it on PC and can wait a few weeks, the alert is the better bet.
Prices checked on the morning of 20 October.
