Star Wars: Galactic Racer comes out on 6 October on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the review embargo lifted on 2 October. It scores 88 on both Metacritic and OpenCritic. Steam sells it in two editions, Standard at €59.99 and Deluxe at €79.99, and other stores already sell both for less. Here is what the extra money gets you and what each one costs this morning.

What the reviews liked, and what they did not

Fuse Games was founded by former Criterion developers, the Burnout people, and the reviews keep pointing at that: it is fast, and crashing your rivals into walls is half the point. It is set after Return of the Jedi, with an underground racing scene filling the gap left by the Empire. You race podracers, landspeeders, speeder bikes and the new skim speeders, on tracks rather than in an open world.

The campaign is built like a roguelite. You tour several planets choosing events along the way, and if you lose or get wrecked too often the run is over and you start again, keeping some upgrades. Next to it there is an Arcade mode with short curated events, a Scenario mode with time trials and character challenges, and online multiplayer. Giant Bomb gave it 5/5 and TheGamer 4.5/5. The complaint that comes up most is repetition: restarting runs means seeing the same planets again, and early on you crash a lot.

Standard or Deluxe: what the extra €20 buys

Both editions include the pre-order bonus, a livery for your vehicle and a player banner for multiplayer. The Deluxe adds:

  • three exclusive Kor Sarun vehicles: the Ciza T speeder bike, the Darc X landspeeder and the Rak S skim speeder;
  • a livery inspired by the Naboo N-1 starfighter;
  • three exclusive Arcade events;
  • a Deluxe player banner and a digital art book.

There is no early access in either edition: everyone starts on 6 October. Apart from the three vehicles and three events, it is all cosmetic. If you mostly care about the campaign, the Standard Edition has everything that matters.

The cheapest Standard Edition on PC

Kinguin has the lowest price once fees are added: €36.36 with coupon OCTGOC10 (€39.60 with fees), Steam Key for Europe. Instant Gaming charges €39.99 (no fees), Steam Key, so it ends up 39 cents dearer, without needing a coupon. Eneba is at €36.86 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€40.58 with fees), Steam Key. Steam itself asks €59.99 (no fees).

Gameseal also lists a Steam Account at €36.51 with coupon SEAL17CKD (€41.04 with fees). It costs more than the keys once fees are added, and an account does not put the game in your own library: you play on someone else's profile.

The Deluxe Edition for less than Steam's Standard

On PC the Deluxe gap shrinks outside Steam. K4G sells it for €47.82 with coupon GCDK14DEAL (€52.28 with fees), Steam Key for Europe. Eneba has it for €48.59 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€53.33 with fees) and Instant Gaming for €53.89 (no fees). Steam asks €79.99 (no fees).

With fees, the gap between K4G's Deluxe and Kinguin's Standard is €12.68, not the €20 Steam charges. And that Deluxe still costs less than the Standard on Steam.

Watch out for the €39.49 Deluxe

The comparison also shows an Instant Gaming Deluxe Edition at €39.49 (no fees), Steam Key, which would make the Deluxe cheaper than any Standard. The store's own page lists it as a Latin America key. Keys sold for one region usually will not activate on a Steam account from another, so if you are in Europe skip it and go for the EU listings above.

PS5 and Xbox: the official stores set the price

On console we only have Standard Edition offers. On PS5 the PlayStation Store charges €59.99 (no fees), PSN Key, and PcComponentes sells the physical edition for €52.99 (no fees). On Xbox the Microsoft Store asks €60.49 (no fees), Xbox Key. Difmark is cheaper on both, €40.31 with coupon Gocdkeys (€42.12 with fees) on PS5 and €50.39 with coupon Gocdkeys (€52.66 with fees) on Xbox, but those are shared Accounts, not the game on your own profile. All offers are on the PS5 page and the Xbox page.

On PC, the cheapest Standard key has barely moved before launch. Kinguin's store price, before coupon and fees, was €39.99 in May, €38.99 for most of the summer and €37.49 in early September, and today it is €40.40. Steam has never moved from €59.99. With no player reviews on Steam until launch day, the critics' 88 is the only score there is. Every store is on the page to buy Star Wars Galactic Racer key.

Prices checked on the morning of 3 October.
