Scritchy Scratchy costs €4.19 on Steam until Thursday 1 October at 17:00 UTC (18:00 UK time). That's 30% off its usual €5.99 and the lowest price we've ever recorded for it on Steam. The discount landed together with the Challenge Update, patch 1.2, so the timing works out well if you've been meaning to try it.
Scratch, cash in, automate, repeat
It's an incremental game about lottery scratchcards. You scratch tickets, collect the winnings, spend them on upgrades and automation, and at some point reset everything with a prestige to earn permanent bonuses. Then you start again, a bit faster each time. Lunch Money Games made it, Funday Games publishes it, and it came out on 18 March for PC and Mac.
Players have taken to it: Very Positive on Steam, with 94% of 15,688 reviews in favour (14,747).
What patch 1.2 adds
The update brings a challenge mode, unlocked after your first prestige. There are nine challenges, each with its own set of rules and a money target to hit, and each one gives you a permanent reward when you complete it. Finish all nine and a secret catalogue opens up with three mystery tickets in it.
This week, Steam beats the resellers
We usually find the game cheaper away from Steam. Not this time. Of the five offers we're tracking in five stores, the cheapest key is Steam's own at €4.19 (no fees). Humble Bundle sells a Steam Key for €6.99 (no fees), which is more than Steam charges even when there's no sale.
Below that there are only shared Steam Accounts:
- Driffle: €1.73 with the coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€2.19 with fees).
- Gamivo: €1.46 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€2.26 with fees).
- G2A: €2.70 (€2.99 with fees).
With any of those you're playing on someone else's account, and the game never shows up in your own library. Saving two euros isn't a good enough reason.
Has it ever been this cheap?
No. We've followed its price for 196 days and this is the lowest we've seen. It fell to €4.79 a few times, in May, June and August, and there was a spike to €8.19 in May. The historical median for the key is €5.99 (store prices, no fees or coupons), which is also its normal Steam price.
If you want it, buy it on Steam before Thursday afternoon; after 17:00 UTC it goes back to €5.99. You can see every store on the page to buy Scritchy Scratchy key, and if you miss the deadline, a price alert will let you know when it drops again.
