Can you get Project Warlock cheaper from a reseller than from Steam right now? This morning, no. Retrovibe is running a publisher sale on Steam with discounts of up to 87%, and that takes the game from its normal €11.00 (no fees) down to €1.43 (no fees).
If you missed it the first time, this is a retro first-person shooter from Buckshot Software, built along the lines of Doom and Wolfenstein. The sequel, Project Warlock II, is out as a full release and is also reduced, though there the sums come out differently.
The lowest we've seen Project Warlock on Steam
It has been €1.43 (no fees) since 25 October. The previous sale stopped at €1.65 (no fees), and we've never seen it lower on Steam. Steam keys haven't gone that low either: their historical low is €2.00 (excluding fees), from September three years ago.
We don't know when the sale ends, as we have no end date for it.
What resellers ask for Project Warlock
These were the cheapest offers this morning, sorted by what you'd actually pay:
- HRKGame: €2.11 with the Gocdkeys12 coupon (€2.51 with fees), Steam key
- Gamivo: €1.85 with the GCDKGamivo coupon (€2.66 with fees), Steam key
- Key4Games: €2.36 (€2.70 with fees), Steam Gift
- Kinguin: €2.28 (€2.79 with fees), Steam key
Gamivo has the lowest figure before fees, then drops behind HRKGame once they're added. Either way, the best key costs just over a euro more than Steam. The Key4Games offer is a different format: a Steam Gift is a copy sent to you as a gift, with no code to activate.
If you'd still rather buy Project Warlock key from a reseller, the full list is on the game page.
Project Warlock II: Gamivo saves you 52 cents if the coupon works
Project Warlock II is €10.07 (no fees) on Steam, 37% off its normal €15.99 (no fees). This time a reseller does get under it: Gamivo has a Steam key at €8.27 with the GCDKGamivo coupon (€9.55 with fees).
That's 52 cents less once fees are counted, and the whole saving rests on the coupon. If it doesn't go through at checkout, buy from Steam. There's no fallback among the other keys, since the next one is Driffle's at €11.32 with the GOCDKEYS10 coupon (€12.13 with fees), already dearer than Steam.
What Steam players make of both games
Project Warlock sits at 87% positive from 4,719 Steam reviews. The sequel has 80% from 1,257.
Neither purchase is urgent if you weren't already planning to play them. On the first game, this sale beats the last one by 22 cents, so there's no need to buy it just because it's cheap. If the sequel interests you and you can wait, set a price alert and we'll let you know when it drops.
