OneShot is €5.85 (no fees) on Steam until 13 November, 40% off its normal €9.75 (no fees). It's part of a sale from its publisher, KOMODO. The end date is the one the promotion gives; our own price data shows the drop on 30 October.
OneShot: World Machine Edition is cheaper too, at €7.80 (no fees), which is 20% off the same €9.75 (no fees). Both tell the same story, so the choice mostly comes down to how you like to play.
OneShot in a nutshell, spoiler-free
It's a top-down puzzle adventure from Future Cat. You guide Niko, a child, through a world with no sun, on a mission to give it its light back. We'll stop there, because this game lives on its surprises.
It came out on Steam in December, almost ten years ago, and players still rate it very highly: 98% positive across 59,886 Steam reviews. Its critic score on Metacritic is 80.
What World Machine Edition changes
World Machine Edition is the version built with consoles in mind, and it reached Steam on 30 September two years ago. The original plays with files on your actual computer. This one keeps the same story but moves all of that inside a simulated desktop.

| Where it happens | On your real computer | Inside a simulated desktop |
| Best if | You play on a Windows PC | You prefer a controller |
On a Windows PC we'd go for the original. Using your own machine is the whole charm of it, and right now it's also the cheaper of the two. If you'd rather play with a controller, World Machine Edition is the one to get.
No reseller undercuts Steam on OneShot
Buy it directly from Steam. There was no cheaper reseller key this morning, the game lands straight in your library and nothing gets added at checkout.
The closest alternatives are gifts, and both cost more: a Steam Gift at G2A for €6.62 with coupon GCKG2AF1P6K (€6.91 with fees) and an Altergift at Kinguin for €6.67 (€7.50 with fees). Every offer to buy OneShot key is on the game page if you want to compare for yourself. World Machine Edition has the same story: Steam was the cheapest option there too.
That very cheap Steam account
On the game page you'll spot a much lower figure: a Steam account at Key4Games for €2.25 with coupon GOCDKEYS15 (€2.60 with fees). We don't recommend it. You aren't buying a copy of the game. You're getting the login for a shared account, so OneShot never joins your own library, and you're relying on the seller to keep that access working. On Steam you pay more, but the game is yours.
How low OneShot has been
At €5.85 (no fees), this is OneShot's usual sale price. It was the same from 2 to 10 October and on other dates before that. Across the 181 days we have on record for the key, it has only been cheaper on 6, and its lowest point was €3.90 (no fees) two years ago, on 1 October.
World Machine Edition has less room to move. In our records it has never gone below the €7.80 (no fees) it costs today.
If you want to play now, €5.85 (no fees) is a good price. If you don't, there's no rush, because it comes back every few weeks. To catch the next drop, set a price alert and we'll email you.
