Steam has knocked 80% off Metal Eden. The shooter from Reikon Games, the studio behind Ruiner, now costs €3.99 (no fees) instead of €19.99. A deals site flagged the discount late on 22 September and our price tracking picked it up this morning. There is no end date that we know of, so we can't say how long it will stay there.
If it passed you by: Metal Eden is a fast first-person shooter with a cyberpunk setting, published by Deep Silver. It came out in September last year, a little over a year ago, and sits at "Very Positive" on Steam, with 83% of 1,932 reviews in its favour.
€3.99 is a new low for Steam
We have been logging the Steam price since 28 April, and all the historical figures here are without fees. For most of that time the game sat at the full €19.99, which is still what it cost yesterday. The discounts in between were mostly modest: €17.99 from 8 May, €17.55 on three occasions (the last one from 11 to 17 September) and €7.95 twice, from 26 June to 10 July and again from 4 to 11 August.
The one deep cut ran from 19 May to 15 June, at €4.95. That was the floor until today, and the new price comes in 96 cents below it.
Why the resellers lose out this time
Usually a key is the cheaper route, and Metal Eden keys have been very cheap for months. Across the 148 days we have tracked, the best offer of the day stayed between €4.09 and €4.20 without fees or coupons, with a median of €4.20. Steam at €3.99 is now below even the lowest of those.
Here are today's Steam Keys, from cheapest to dearest once the payment fee is added:

- G2A: €4.16 with coupon GCKG2AH9K2L (€4.45 with fees), Steam Key, Global
With their coupons, Gamivo, Gameseal and Kinguin all show a price under Steam's €3.99. Then the fee lands at checkout and each of them ends up above €4.30. The closest key is the one at Cdkeys Com, 10 cents more than Valve charges.
Only one offer undercuts Steam: Difmark, at €3.53 with coupon Gocdkeys (€3.69 with fees). That is a Steam Account, though. You get the login to an account someone else owns with the game already on it, and nothing is added to your own library. The saving is 30 cents, and for that we would buy it from Steam and keep it on our own profile.
PS5 is on sale as well, Xbox isn't
The PlayStation Store has cut the PS5 version too, to €4.99 (no fees), PSN Key. Difmark goes lower with an Account at €4.19 with coupon Gocdkeys (€4.38 with fees), which is again a shared account rather than a purchase on your own PSN profile. We don't know whether Sony's discount ends at the same time as Steam's.
On Xbox, the Microsoft Store is still asking the full €19.99 (no fees). Eneba sells an Xbox Key at €16.48 with coupon Gocdkeys10 (€18.44 with fees), but it's a US-region key. Difmark's Account costs €6.71 with coupon Gocdkeys (€7.01 with fees). You can see every offer on our Metal Eden PS5 and Metal Eden Xbox pages.
What we would do
If Metal Eden is on your list, buy it on Steam while the discount lasts. Right now it's the cheapest way to have a copy of your own, and no key beats it once fees are paid. The rest of the PC shops are on our buy Metal Eden key page if you want to check for yourself.
Should you miss it and find Steam back at €19.99, don't pay that. Today the keys cost between €4.09 and €4.45 with fees, and their price has barely moved in months. You can also set a price alert and we'll tell you when it drops.
