Sony ran a Maneater 2 trailer at its State of Play on 3 September, and the shark game went straight back into everyone's queue. We have no pricing for the sequel and we are not going to make any up. What we can tell you is what it costs to catch up with the first one, and that turns out to be messier than it looks: the Maneater page holds the base game, the Truth Quest expansion sold on its own, and a bundle of the two.
What the base game asks on PC
Cheapest today is Cdkeys Com at €2.59, Standard, Global. That is the lowest number anywhere on the page, which currently carries 47 offers from 17 stores. Then G2A at €2.62, Kinguin €3.04, K4G twice at €3.11 (Global and Europe), Driffle €3.13, Difmark Digital Keys €3.14. Epic's own store wants €4.01.
Our own record backs that up. Since 28 April the floor on that page has sat between €2.08 and €2.62, and today it reads €2.59. Months inside the same narrow band. There is no discount worth waiting for here; this is simply what the game costs, so if you already know you want it, buy Maneater key and move on.
Check which launcher you are paying for
This is the part worth slowing down on. Of those 47 offers, 17 are Epic Games Store keys starting at €2.62 and eight are Steam keys starting at €3.15, the cheapest of them from Eneba in Global region. Three more are Steam Gift, and those do not start until €36.06. One is a GOG key at €39.52. The remaining 28 are tagged «Standard» and nothing else, which gives you the price but not the destination.
Fifty-three cents separate the cheapest Epic code from the cheapest Steam one. That is small enough that if you care where the game lands, you should pay the difference and be certain. Read the seller's own description before checkout, because the tag on our page does not always spell it out.
Truth Quest costs more than the game it hangs off
The expansion has a page of its own: 27 offers across 13 stores. Truth Quest starts at €3.35 from Driffle, then HRKGame €3.42, Eneba €3.49, Cdkeys Com and Kinguin at €3.79 apiece, Gamivo €3.86. Yes, the add-on is dearer than the shark it attaches to.
The Apex Edition and the sum nobody does out loud
The Apex Edition packs the base game and Truth Quest together: 14 offers, eight stores, cheapest at Cdkeys Com for €6.09, then Gamivo €8.63, Gameseal €8.75 in Europe and a G2A Epic code for Europe at €12.09. After that it leaps to GamesPlanet at €42.66, GamersGate €44.08, Fanatical €45.88 and GOG €49.16, so in practice only the first four offers on that page matter.
Now the arithmetic. Base at €2.59 plus expansion at €3.35 comes to €5.94. The Apex Edition asks €6.09. The bundle costs fifteen cents more than buying the pieces one at a time.
That is close enough to a draw that we would not argue with either route: fifteen cents buys you one purchase instead of two, one code instead of two. What falls apart is the usual sales pitch about bundles being the cheaper way in. Here it is not, and if all you want is the shark, Truth Quest is optional.
71 from the critics, and no Steam verdict on our side
Maneater came out in May a few years back, developed by Blindside Interactive alongside Tripwire Interactive. The score we hold comes from OpenCritic: 71 out of 100 as the main critic average, drawn from 167 reviews. We do not have Steam reviews tied to this game in our database, so there is no player verdict to put next to that number. If that side of things matters to you, go and read the Steam page before you pay.
Consoles cost four to six times more
On Xbox One the top offer reads €1.49 from Difmark, and it is an account: you are buying access to somebody else's login, and the game never enters your own library. The four behind it are the same deal (Difmark €2.80, K4G €3.92, Kinguin €4.75, G2A €8.90). The first genuine Xbox code is Eneba at €9.92 for the US region, with Europe at €10.97.
PS5 starts at €12.97, PS4 at €15.79, Nintendo Switch at €13.29. So the PC copy at €2.59 is four to six times cheaper than any console version, and the gap against the first Xbox code that is actually yours is bigger still.
