On PC, Borderlands 3 is four separate products on sale at the same time: the base game, the Super Deluxe, the Ultimate and the Director's Cut sold on its own. Three of them overlap heavily, and today the choice between them has an answer you would not guess from the order the store puts them in.
Gearbox's looter shooter still sits on a 78 on Metacritic. Four-player co-op, guns in quantities nobody has ever counted, a campaign long enough to see out a winter. The base game page carries 74 live offers from 20 stores.
The cheapest number is a Steam account, not a licence
Sort by price and the first thing you hit is €1.73 at G2A, tagged Steam Account. What you are buying there is somebody else's login, so every hour you sink into the game lives on a shelf you do not own the key to. Codes first, always. We would rather point at the account than let the smallest number on the page do the selling.
The first genuine code is K4G at €2.49, sold as a Steam Key. Then K4G again at €2.56, Kinguin at €2.63, Driffle at €2.68, Kinguin at €2.70, Driffle and Eneba both at €2.72, Eneba at €2.73, Gameseal at €2.79, HRKGame at €2.80, Gamivo at €2.84. Steam Keys, all of them. As we publish, the cheapest is € (with coupon Gocdkeys12) at HRKGame. If the campaign is the whole of what you want, that is the end of the decision: buy Borderlands 3 key and go.
Twenty cents separate buying the pieces from taking the Ultimate
Here is the sum that settles it. Base game, €2.49. Director's Cut on its own from €6.31 at G2A, with Kinguin at €6.32 and Gamivo at €6.50 close behind, out of 17 offers across 9 stores. Buy those two apart and you are €8.80 down, with the campaign, one add-on and neither season pass.
The Ultimate Edition opens at €9.00, at Eneba, as a Steam Key. Twenty cents more than the pieces, and in that box you get the base game, both season passes and the Director's Cut.
Twenty cents for two season passes. Nobody planned that. Four products drifted down at their own speeds until they happened to land a few cents apart, and that alignment will not survive the next round of discounts.
Between the Super Deluxe and the Ultimate there is no debate
The Super Deluxe opens at €8.99 at Eneba, also a Steam Key. One cent under the Ultimate. For that cent you give back the second season pass and the Director's Cut and keep the base game and the first pass.
Look only at the offers that carry an edition label and the same picture comes out. Cheapest Deluxe Ed. is CDKeys at €9.09, then K4G at €9.26, Kinguin at €9.32 and Gamivo at €9.39, out of 30 offers across 12 stores. Cheapest tagged Ultimate is Kinguin at €9.24, then Gamivo at €10.18, G2A at €11.40 and CDKeys at €14.69, out of 19 offers across 10 stores. Whichever way you line the two labels up, the Super Deluxe asks for more and hands over less.

One oddity to know about before you click. The base game page does not hold only base game offers: K4G has an Ultimate sitting there at €9.44 and Gameseal one at €9.49, plus a Deluxe Ed. from Kinguin at €10.45. Nothing wrong with any of them, they are simply dearer than the same editions on their own pages. That K4G Ultimate costs you forty-four cents for the privilege of not clicking through.
Where the base game has been these past months
In our own record the monthly low has been working its way down, with one month that refused to play along: €2.95, then €2.96, then €2.28, then €2.00, and €1.73 this month. Read that last one carefully, because it is the account. Real codes start at €2.49 today.
The Ultimate is the one that really moved. Its monthly low had never dipped under €14.34 in anything we hold, so €9.00 is the lowest we have seen on it across five months, and that fall is what parked it next to the pieces. The full price history shows the slope.
Already own the base game? Then buy the add-on alone
To sum up. Empty library, you want the lot: the Ultimate at €9.00. Empty library, only the campaign appeals: the base game from €2.49. Campaign finished years ago: the Director's Cut by itself. And the Super Deluxe, at today's numbers, has run out of buyers to serve.
