Digiphile has opened a charity bundle for Halloween, Orcatober Aquatic Horrors: seven horror games set at sea, in lakes or deep underwater, for 10 dollars. Layers of Fear is the best-known name in it, and it only comes in the top tier. If that's the one game you want, a Steam key on its own costs roughly a third of the bundle this morning: €2.97 with coupon Gocdkeys12 (€3.37 with fees) at HRKGame.
What each tier of the Orcatober bundle includes
The more you pay, the more games you unlock, and every tier keeps the games from the ones below it:
- $4: Murky Divers.
- $6: adds Static Dread: The Lighthouse.
- $8: adds Voodoo Fishin' and Darkwater.
- $10: adds Layers of Fear, Static Dread: The Submarine and UMIGARI, so you get all seven.
There's also an optional add-on, The Bathhouse Restored Edition, which isn't covered by the $10. Part of the money goes to Whale & Dolphin Conservation, and you can add an extra amount that goes straight to the charity. The bundle is on sale until 30 October, or until Digiphile runs out of keys.
For Steam Deck owners: Layers of Fear and both Static Dread games are Verified, while UMIGARI isn't supported.
Make sure it's the right Layers of Fear
Several games share almost the same name. The one in the bundle is Bloober Team's remake from three years ago, which Steam lists simply as Layers of Fear. It rebuilds the first game and its sequel in Unreal Engine 5, includes the Inheritance expansion and links them with a new story about a writer holed up in a lighthouse. Its Steam reviews are Mostly Positive, with 79% of them positive.
It isn't the original Layers of Fear from ten years ago, which has its own page, and it isn't Layers of Fear 2 on its own either. The bundle is PC only, so the PS5 and Xbox versions aren't part of it. On our site this version still carries the name it was announced with, Layers of Fears, with an s at the end.
Layers of Fear on its own: today's cheapest keys
HRKGame has the lowest offer: €2.97 with coupon Gocdkeys12 (€3.37 with fees), a global Steam Key. Gamivo is close behind at €2.61 with coupon GCDKGamivo (€3.45 with fees), and K4G at €2.90 with coupon GCDK14DEAL (€3.55 with fees), both also Steam keys. Steam sells it for €22.38 (no fees).
That's a low price for this game, too. The cheapest key we had logged was €2.28, yesterday, and it usually sells for around €9.47. Both figures are without fees, like all our price history.
Bundle or single key: it depends on how many games you'd play
If Layers of Fear is all you want, get the key. Digiphile charges in dollars, and the deal posted on Dealabs put the bundle at €11.14, more than three times what the key costs with fees.
The sums change if other games in the bundle appeal to you. These are today's cheapest Steam keys for the ones we track, fees included:
- Static Dread: The Submarine: €3.29 with coupon GOCDKEYS10 at Driffle (€3.81 with fees).
- Darkwater: €3.67 with coupon GCDK13 at Gameboost (€3.84 with fees).
- Static Dread: The Lighthouse: €2.04 with coupon OCTGOC10 at Kinguin (€2.55 with fees).
- Murky Divers: €0.91 with coupon Gocdkeys at Difmark (€0.95 with fees).
Layers of Fear plus The Submarine comes to €7.18 with fees, still cheaper than the bundle. Add Darkwater and you reach €11.02, about the same. From four games on, the bundle wins, and it also throws in UMIGARI and Voodoo Fishin', which we don't track. If you want to support the charity, that's another reason to go for it.
If you're not in a rush, set a price alert for Layers of Fear and we'll email you when it drops to the price you pick. All PC offers, with fees, are on the page to buy Layers of Fear key.
