Agent 47 has made the jump to Switch 2. Feral Interactive released the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Hitman: Absolution on 22 October, digital only, through the eShop. Underneath, it's the game IO Interactive put out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 more than a decade ago, the most story-driven and linear entry in the series, sitting between Blood Money and the World of Assassination trilogy. The PC version holds a critic score of 79 on Metacritic.
What the Switch 2 Edition adds
Most of Feral's work has gone into performance. Resolution goes up both handheld and docked, and in handheld mode the game now runs at up to 60fps. You can also aim with the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, which is handy in a game where so much depends on lining up one clean shot.
The rest is visual polish: smoother animations and effects in the heaviest scenes, a higher level of detail, better shadows and sharper texture filtering. Contracts mode is there from day one, with cross-platform play and leaderboards.
Already own it on Switch? Claim the upgrade before 4 November
If you bought Hitman: Absolution on the original Switch, the Upgrade Pack is free on the eShop until 4 November. After that it costs €4.99 (£4.99, $9.99). If you're planning to play it on Switch 2 at some point, don't leave it until later.
Starting from scratch: Switch 2 or PC?
On the eShop, the Switch 2 Edition is €24.99 (no fees) at launch, 25% off. From 5 November it goes up to €29.99.
PC is a different story. This morning's cheapest Steam Key is at Cdkeys.com for €1.79 (no fees). That's over €23 less than the Switch 2 version for the same game, minus the handheld part.
It's also the lowest we've seen it. The median price for this Steam Key in our history is €2.28 (historical figures exclude fees), so today's offer is 21% below that, and across 250 days of tracking it has never been cheaper. There are 40 offers in stock, all listed on our page to buy Hitman: Absolution key.
If you'd rather have the expanded version, the Professional Edition is at a record low too: €3.98 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€4.87 with fees), Steam Key at Gamivo. Its median is €7.64 (no fees), so it's 48% below its usual price, and we haven't seen it lower in 938 days. You'll find it on the Hitman: Absolution Professional Edition page.

Which one should you get?
If you already own it on Switch, it's simple: claim the free upgrade before 4 November. If you don't, and you want to play it on the sofa or on the train, the Switch 2 Edition is built for exactly that, and buying before 5 November saves you €5.
If you play on PC, under €2 puts it in your Steam library, and at that price holding out for a better sale doesn't really make sense. If you still want to keep an eye on it, set a price alert for Hitman: Absolution and we'll email you when it drops.
