You can already play a good chunk of Graveyard Keeper 2 without paying for it. A free demo is out on PC (Steam), PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. It lasts around three to four hours and stays available until 22 September, and your save carries over: buy the full game and you continue from where you stopped.
Full release on 22 September
That's also launch day. Graveyard Keeper 2 comes out on 22 September on the same platforms, plus the Epic Games Store and GOG, and it's once again from Lazy Bear Games and publisher tinyBuild, the team behind the first one. On Steam it has a 20% pre-order discount, and pre-ordering gets you an exclusive outfit and a sauna for your character's house.
We haven't verified the euro amount yet, and the sequel has no offers in our comparison so far, so we can't tell you where it'll be cheapest. As the demo keeps your progress, trying it first costs you nothing but an evening.
What the sequel promises
According to the developers, you'll again be dealing with corpses, grotesque locals and plenty of black humour, with more ways to customise and automate the graveyard. The village is bigger and there's more of it to explore, farming and livestock get new mechanics, and your character has upgrades and skills to unlock. Whether the story picks up from the first game isn't something we can confirm.
The original and its three DLCs for under €7
If you missed it, Graveyard Keeper is a medieval graveyard management sim with a very dark sense of humour. You look after the cemetery, prepare the bodies, farm, craft, trade and run a few businesses you'd rather nobody looked into. It has a few years behind it now. Steam users rate it Very Positive (33,991 positive reviews, 5,533 negative), although critics were cooler on it, with a Metascore of 69.
Right now it costs next to nothing. We checked on the morning of 15 September (06:00 UTC), and prices change daily. Steam has it on sale at €3.90, no fees, against the €19.50 it normally charges according to our records. The cheapest Steam Key is at Eneba, €1.81 with the coupon Gocdkeys10 (€2.51 with fees), global, and our Steam Key records have never shown it cheaper.

Other stores are close behind on the DLCs. G2A has Stranger Sins at €1.06 with the coupon GCKG2AU1M4D (€1.35 with fees), CDKeys.com sells Game Of Crone for €2.09, no fees, and Instant Gaming has Better Save Soul at €1.69, no fees. All are Steam Keys.
Check the total at checkout, and the Xbox version
At these amounts, fees take a big bite. Eneba's €1.81 looks far cheaper than Instant Gaming's €3.09, no fees, for a global Steam Key, yet at checkout it's €2.51 against €3.09. Kinguin is €2.09 with the coupon SEPGOC10 (€2.61 with fees) for a global Steam Key, K4G €2.14 with the coupon GCDK14DEAL (€2.72 with fees) and Driffle €2.32 with the coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€2.80 with fees), both for Europe-region Steam Keys. CDKeys.com asks €3.19, no fees. Gamivo also has a Steam gift at €1.94 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€2.76 with fees), which ends up dearer than Eneba's key.
For reference, the monthly lows across all formats, without fees or coupons, were €3.01 in April, €2.42 in May, €2.40 in June, €1.94 in July, €1.83 in August and €2.01 so far in September.
On Xbox, the Microsoft Store charges €19.99, no fees. Gamivo's Europe-region Xbox key is €13.61 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€15.08 with fees). Kinguin has shared accounts from €1.39 with the coupon SEPGOC10 (€1.85 with fees), but a shared account means playing on someone else's login, and the game never becomes yours.
My advice: download the demo tonight, and if you never played the first game, buy Graveyard Keeper key on PC while it's this cheap. Whether you add the DLCs is up to you, but the whole lot comes to €6.76 with fees.
