SNK's taekwondo specialist is next. Kim Kaphwan joins Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves on Thursday 24 September on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC, through both Steam and the Epic Games Store. He's been a series regular since Fatal Fury 2.

Third in line for Season Pass 3

Kim is the third fighter in Season Pass 3, which SNK is releasing at a rate of one character a month: Rick Strowd in July, Duck King in August, Kim in September, an unannounced fighter in October, Laocorn in November and one more unannounced character in December.

The game itself came out in April last year and has held up well. It's Very Positive on Steam (2,536 positive reviews, 595 negative) and averages 81 on OpenCritic from 92 reviews, with 84% of critics recommending it.

What you need to play as Kim

The base game, plus Kim. SNK sells each DLC character on their own for €4.99, or you can get him inside Season Pass 3. The Revenge Edition bundles the base game with Season Passes 1, 2 and 3; it's digital only and costs €49.99 in the official stores.

Two gaps in our data. We haven't verified what Season Pass 3 costs in euros on its own, and neither that pass nor the Revenge Edition is in our comparison yet. Everything below covers the base game and the first two passes on PC, plus the base game on Xbox.

The base game at its lowest in our records

We checked on the morning of 15 September (06:00 UTC), and prices change every day. Steam lists the base game at €19.99, no fees; it was €9.99 there from 27 August to 10 September.

The resellers are far lower. Eneba has the cheapest Steam Key at €3.80 with the coupon Gocdkeys10 (€4.67 with fees), global, and with that coupon it's the least we've ever tracked for a Steam Key of this game. The next four are bunched together: YUPLAY at €5.10, no fees; Driffle at €4.55 with the coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€5.11 with fees); Kinguin at €4.49 with the coupon SEPGOC10 (€5.20 with fees); and Gameboost at €4.99 with the coupon GCDK13 (€5.22 with fees). All global Steam Keys, out of 73 live offers for PC.

In our records the Steam Key started at around €39.46. It has come down a long way since, and this year alone the monthly lows went from €13.29 in April, €11.23 in May, €6.19 in June and July, to €4.20 in August. Eneba has had it at €4.20 without a coupon since 27 August. Those historical figures don't include fees or coupons.

Difmark also has a Steam shared account at €3.60 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€3.76 with fees). That's a login to someone else's account rather than a copy of your own, and it saves you 91 cents.

Season Passes 1 and 2 on PC

Season Pass 1 is €3.58 at Eneba with the coupon Gocdkeys10 (€4.43 with fees), a global Steam Key. Difmark Digital Keys asks €4.37 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€4.57 with fees) and YUPLAY €4.98, no fees. The official stores are well behind, all selling Steam Keys with no fees: GamesPlanet at €11.73, Fanatical at €12.66, and Humble and Green Man Gaming at €14.99.

Season Pass 2 has fewer offers. YUPLAY has the cheapest Steam Key at €7.59, no fees, then Difmark Digital Keys at €10.34 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€10.81 with fees). On Steam it's €19.99, no fees.

If you just want Kim, the sums are easy: €4.67 with fees for the base game and €4.99 for Kim, €9.66 in total. Bear in mind that DLC has to be bought for the same store as your game, so a Steam Key for the base game means buying Kim on Steam.

Wanting everyone is where it gets less clear. The base game and the first two passes come to €16.69 with fees, but the €49.99 Revenge Edition also includes Season Pass 3, which we can't price yet. Until we can, we can't tell you which route works out cheaper for the full roster.

Fatal Fury on Xbox Series X|S

The Microsoft Store charges €19.99, no fees, for the base game. Kinguin has an Xbox key for €13.93 with the coupon SEPGOC10 (€15.39 with fees), but it's a US-region key, so check it works with your account. Gamivo's Europe-region Xbox key costs €14.11 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€15.59 with fees), just 20 cents more.

On PC, I'd buy Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves key now, since it's the lowest we've seen it, and add Kim on 24 September. The passes can wait until you know which fighters you actually play.
