Go down, die, come back knowing a bit more, go down again. Dungeon crawlers suit a console that moves between the sofa and the train better than almost anything. We used two filters: the game needs a Switch page on Gocdkeys with a sensible offer this morning, and its PC version has to be well reviewed on Steam. Twelve made it.
The review scores come from Steam, so they belong to the PC version; the eShop doesn't publish player ratings we could use instead. The price column shows the cheapest account with fees, because that's the one kind of offer all twelve have. What buying an account actually gets you is explained right after the table.

Account, eShop code or cartridge: what each one gets you
Switch pages on Gocdkeys list three formats:
- Account: you get the login for someone else's Nintendo account that already owns the game. You play from that account, nothing is added to yours, and the copy never becomes yours. It's nearly always the cheapest option, and for seven of these twelve games it's the only one.
- eShop code: you redeem it on your own Nintendo account and the game stays there. It has to match your account's region. The codes we mention here are all region Europe.
- Physical copy: a cartridge, which you can also sell on once you're done with it.
Only five games on the list have a code or a physical copy in our price comparison today:
| Game | Format | Cheapest today, with fees |
|---|---|---|
| Enter the Gungeon | eShop code (Europe) | |
| Portal Knights | eShop code (Europe) | € |
| Darkest Dungeon II | eShop code (Europe) | |
| Hades II | Physical copy (Switch 2) | € |
| Cult of the Lamb | Physical copy | € |
For Enter the Gungeon the gap is small. Difmark's account costs €9.99 (€10.44 with fees) and the European code at Instant Gaming is €12.99 (no fees). We'd pay the extra €2.55 and own it. Darkest Dungeon II is a different story: the Instant Gaming code is €29.99 (no fees), while Difmark's account is €12.39 (€12.95 with fees).
Action roguelites, mostly for one
Hades II is the big name here. Supergiant keeps the structure of Hades and swaps in a new lead, Melinoë, princess of the underworld, up against Chronos. Every death sends you back to the start with something new unlocked and a little more of the story. On Steam (PC) it's Overwhelmingly Positive, 95% of 115,044 reviews.
Check which console you own. We picked the Switch 2 page because it has the better prices: a Difmark account at €11.75 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€12.28 with fees), plus physical copies from €35.94 (no fees) at Amazon FR. That version won't run on the original Switch. If that's your console, use the Hades II page for Switch instead, where the cheapest account is €13.43 with the same coupon (€14.03 with fees).
Enter the Gungeon is a bullet hell built from randomly generated rooms. You fight your way down the Gungeon looking for the gun that can kill the past and dodge-roll through the bullets. Two people can play on one console. Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam (PC), 95% of 79,478. It's one of the few you can own outright, and the page to buy Enter the Gungeon key or code lists every store.
Children of Morta leans hardest on story. You play the Bergsons, a family guarding Mount Morta, and every family member fights differently. Two-player co-op is supported. 88% of 18,428 on Steam (PC), Very Positive. There's a single offer: Difmark's account at €16.99 (€17.75 with fees).
Got a group? Four games built for it
Barony is a first-person dungeon crawl and a proper roguelike: die and the run is over. Up to four players, and 91% of 12,839 Steam (PC) reviews are positive. Ember Knights, from Doom Turtle, goes the other way, with fast pixel-art action, also for four, and 93% of 6,083. Both are only sold as Difmark accounts, at €14.99 (€15.66 with fees) and €13.69 (€14.31 with fees).
In TMNT: Splintered Fate the four turtles head out to rescue Splinter. If you've played Hades, the loop will feel familiar: clear a room, pick an upgrade, start over when you fall. Up to four players. 83% of 4,177 on Steam (PC); Difmark's account is €10.58 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€11.06 with fees).
Portal Knights is the slow one. You hop between islands linked by portals, mine, build and craft your gear between fights, alone or with up to three friends. Very Positive on Steam (PC), 83% of 16,911. It's also the cheapest game here to own: Cdkeys Com sells the European code for €7.99 (no fees). Difmark's account, €5.45 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€5.70 with fees), saves barely two euros. These are the four cheapest offers right now on the page to buy Portal Knights key:
How those stores rate on Trustpilot:
- Cdkeys Com — 4.8 / 5 over 224,000+ reviews.
- Instant Gaming — 4.7 / 5 over 833,000+ reviews.
- Kinguin — 4.6 / 5 over 120,000+ reviews.
- Eneba — 4.4 / 5 over 312,000+ reviews.
- Driffle — 4.4 / 5 over 9,000+ reviews.
Cards, turns and first-person corridors
Slay the Spire, by Mega Crit, has the best score of the twelve: Overwhelmingly Positive, 97% of 192,403 on Steam (PC). You climb a tower one fight at a time and after each one choose which card goes into your deck, with four characters that play very differently. Accounts only, the cheapest being Difmark's at €13.79 (€14.41 with fees).
Darkest Dungeon II sends four heroes off in a stagecoach on a long road. Fights are turn-based, and on top of health you have to keep an eye on each hero's stress and on how they get along. It has the weakest score in this guide, Mostly Positive at 74% of 24,383.
Labyrinth of the Demon King takes the first-person dungeon into horror, with a strongly retro look. It's Very Positive on Steam (PC), 92% of 2,128, and the only offer is Difmark's account at €14.99 (€15.66 with fees).
A shop or a cult to run between dungeons
In Moonlighter you're Will, a shopkeeper. At night you raid the dungeons; by day you sell what you brought back, and you set the prices yourself, so ask too much and the customer walks out. 82% of 17,335 on Steam (PC). It's the cheapest game on the list: a Key4Games account at €2.59 with the coupon GOCDKEYS15 (€2.96 with fees).
Cult of the Lamb flips the idea around. You're a lamb saved from death by an imprisoned god, and you repay him by starting a cult: half the game is looking after your followers, the other half is crusading through randomly generated dungeons. Overwhelmingly Positive, 95% of 112,617. The cheapest account is at Key4Games, €8.30 with GOCDKEYS15 (€8.93 with fees).
Only buying one?
If you want it on your own account, Enter the Gungeon and Portal Knights are the easy calls, with European codes at €12.99 and €7.99 (no fees). And if Darkest Dungeon II tempts you but €29.99 for the code doesn't, set a price alert for Darkest Dungeon II and we'll email you when it drops.
Also on Xbox? We have a separate pick of dungeon crawlers for Xbox with their prices.
Prices checked on the morning of 10 October.
