Bandai Namco has put two very different things on the same date. On 9 September, CODE VEIN 2 gets Mask of Idris, which is a DLC you pay for, and update 2.0, which is free for everyone who owns the game. If this one has been sitting on your maybe-later list, later now has a date on it, and the useful question stops being how far the price has fallen and becomes what exactly you are paying for.
The PC page carries 63 live offers from 20 shops. Five labels turn up among them, and only one is the plain copy most buyers assume they are getting.
The cheapest number on the page is somebody else’s account
Sort by price and the first thing you meet is 19.99 € at Difmark. Right behind it, 36.04 € at G2A. Both are Steam Account offers: what changes hands is the login of an account that already owns the game, not a licence that lands in your library. You play as a guest in someone else’s house. No family sharing, no resale, and no way back if the password changes on you.
The cheapest offer that actually leaves CODE VEIN 2 in your own Steam account is € (with coupon GOCDKEYS10), and it currently comes from Eneba. That is the figure worth measuring everything else against.
What the shops are asking, format by format

Two details are worth pulling out of that. The Standard on its own runs from 37.79 € to 69.99 €, so the identical product costs thirty euros more or less depending on where you click. And across recent months the page has averaged around 50 €, which puts today’s floor a good way under the game’s own normal.
Steam Gift, at the bottom of the list, is the one label nobody needs to chase: it starts at 61.79 €, well above a straightforward key.
The upper editions are messier still. Deluxe offers run from 48.39 € all the way to 131.66 €, while the whole Ultimate range fits between 53.09 € and 99.99 €. In other words, the dearest Deluxe on the page costs more than any Ultimate on it. If you go up a step, go up by the number rather than by the word on the label.
Worth keeping in perspective: of the 63 offers on the page, only 24 are Standard keys. The label most people are actually looking for is a bit over a third of what is on display.
Eleven euros up to Deluxe, fifteen up to Ultimate
Measured from the cheapest Standard, Deluxe sits roughly eleven euros higher and Ultimate roughly fifteen. As upgrade steps go those are modest, modest enough that plenty of people click them without much thought.
Now the honest part. We do not know whether Mask of Idris is bundled into either edition. Bandai Namco gave the DLC and the date, not the small print, and we are not going to guess on your behalf about something that costs money.
What we can give you is the precedent. In the first CODE VEIN, the Hunters Pass has always been sold on its own and goes from 8.00 € today, with the base game down at 3.52 €. If the sequel keeps that habit, buying Mask of Idris separately later will not be the expensive part of this hobby. So the real comparison is not eleven euros against fifteen. It is eleven euros committed now against a DLC price nobody has published yet, with a fairly strong hint from the previous game that the unpublished price is small.
Update 2.0 asks nothing of anybody
The free update lands the same day and applies to every copy, whatever you paid and wherever you bought it. No edition gets it earlier and none gets a better version of it. Worth saying out loud, because «paid DLC and big update announced together» reads to a lot of people as a nudge towards the expensive edition, and here it simply is not one.
It matters more than usual on this game. CODE VEIN 2 sits at 6 out of 10 on Steam across 2,545 reviews, which is the sort of reception that either recovers or hardens depending on what the first serious patch does. Update 2.0 is that patch, and you get to watch it happen before spending anything extra.
PS5 and Xbox One barely have a market
The volume is all on PC. CODE VEIN 2 on PS5 has four live offers starting at 19.99 €, and the Xbox One version has fourteen from 29.99 €. With that few sellers a single shop can set the tone for the whole page, and the homework is the same as on PC: check what the offer actually is before you hand over a card.
What we would do with a fortnight to go
If you want to play this week, take the Standard from a seller with a track record and leave the two upper editions alone until Bandai Namco says what Mask of Idris contains and who already owns it. If you are on the fence, waiting until 9 September costs you nothing at all. By then you will know what the DLC includes, whether the editions cover it, and what a 6-out-of-10 game looks like after its first proper overhaul. A fortnight is a short time to keep a wallet shut.
