RetroSpace came out on 1 October, and Steam is selling it for €17.99 (no fees) until 8 October, 10% off its regular €19.99 (no fees). There is a cheaper way in this morning: a Steam Key at Instant Gaming for €14.19 (no fees). The game is made by The Wild Gentlemen and published by Kwalee.
What kind of game RetroSpace is
It is first-person space horror with a "disco-punk" look. You play a janitor on Aurora 5, a space station that has been swallowed by a black hole. It is built as an immersive sim, so you choose how to get through it: sneaking, hacking, fighting or simply exploring a station whose sections all connect. Mutamods alter your character and carry consequences for the rest of the run. When you die you come back as a clone, but each death leaves permanent effects. Throw in time jumps and a seventies aesthetic, moustaches included.
It is PC only, on Steam, and needs 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. A demo was available back in June. Steam also sells a digital artbook for €3.99 (no fees).
Steam's launch price against the cheapest key
Instant Gaming's €14.19 (no fees), Steam Key, is 21% below the €17.99 Steam charges this week and 29% below the €19.99 it returns to once the discount runs out.
Be aware that this is the only store with a key in our comparison right now. With a single seller there is no competition pushing the price down yet, and we cannot tell how it will react when other shops start listing the game.
Three days of price history
History figures are without fees. We started tracking RetroSpace on 2 October and the key has sat at €14.19 every day since. Three days is far too little to say whether that is a good price or just the opening one, so we are not going to guess where it heads next.
Reviews on Steam so far
Going by its Steam page today, user reviews are Very Positive: 87% of 231. Our own database has no score for it yet, and there is no critic rating we can point you to.
Buy before 8 October or wait for more stores?
If you want to play it now, the key already undercuts Steam's launch discount, and after 8 October Steam goes back to €19.99 (no fees), which only makes the key look better. If you are not in a hurry, keep in mind that the game is days old and only one store sells keys for it. More sellers could arrive and the price could drop, though nothing guarantees it. In that case, set a price alert and we will email you when it falls to the price you pick.
Every offer we find will appear on the page to buy RetroSpace key.
Prices checked on the morning of 5 October.
