Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment launch on 27 August, and the prequel trades medieval France for the Minotaur's island with Sophia leading it. That part is simple. The confusing part is the shop window: there is a single digital edition of the game, a collector's box advertised alongside it, and a subscription handing it out on launch day. Three doors, and only two of them leave you owning anything.
One digital edition, one collector box, one subscription
There is no Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate ladder here. The publisher has put out one edition of the game, identical across the four official stores — Steam, Epic, the PS Store and the Microsoft Store — and next to it two things that get advertised as if they were editions and are not. Lined up, they make sense:

What pre-ordering actually adds
The pre-order bonus is called the Heritage Pack and it is the same on every platform. Three things inside:
- The Minoan Sword, a cosmetic weapon.
- Alec's Pendant, an accessory.
- A digital artbook of more than thirty pages, with concept art, character designs and environment paintings from the studio.
None of the three lengthens the campaign or unlocks anything held back: it is wardrobe and a book. What is worth checking is where the code comes from, because the pack is tied to the pre-order and shows up on the resale market only when the listing says so. If the seller does not mention it, do not assume it.
The Collector Box does not contain the game
This is the detail most people miss and the most expensive one to miss. The box holds a numbered 23 cm Sophia and Theseus figurine, a premium SteelBook, three A5 art prints and a metal replica ring. The product page spells it out: the game is not included.
There is a calendar catch too: European delivery is scheduled for well after launch, while the game itself is playable on 27 August. If you want both, the practical order is to settle the digital copy first — you can buy Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy key from the board — and let the box arrive whenever it arrives.
Who gets it on Game Pass from day one?
It lands on launch day on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The subscription tiers below Ultimate do not get day-one releases, so it will not show up there on that date. On top of that the game is Xbox Play Anywhere: one purchase inside the Xbox ecosystem covers the console and the PC, which is why you will see listings tagged "Xbox Series X|S / PC" on the same board.
The maths is short. If you already pay for Ultimate, there is nothing to decide. If you do not, weigh a month of subscription against the cheapest line on the board, currently K4G at € (with coupon GCDK14DEAL): the subscription ends and the game leaves with it, while a code stays.
What the board shows are formats, not editions
Since there is only one edition, everything separating one listing from another is format and region. The panel below shows one line per combination instead of ten variants of the same one, which is the only way to read this without getting lost:
You will see four kinds of label. A standard code with a region on it — Europe, Global or North America — which is the normal purchase. An account offer, where you log into somebody else's account instead of redeeming anything of your own. A gift, delivered as a present inside the platform. Is there a Deluxe or Ultimate edition?
None has been announced above the standard one. Neither the official stores nor the sellers we track list anything else, so the decision is not "which edition" but "which platform and which format".
Does the Collector Box come with a code for the game?
No. It comes with the figurine, the SteelBook, the prints and the ring. The playable copy is bought separately.
Does the Xbox version also work on PC?
Yes, because the game is Play Anywhere inside the Xbox ecosystem. Careful, though: that does not cover a Steam code, which is a different store and a different library.
Does the picture change much on console?
