"Why does the same game cost ten euros on one page and forty-five on the next?" That is the question that sends most people to a comparison table, and the answer is not that one shop is cleverer than the rest. It is that they are not selling the same object. Our Escape from Tarkov listing carries a couple of dozen live offers, and between them they cover four editions and four different ways of ending up with the game.
The lowest number on the page is not a copy of the game
The cheapest line right now is € at Eldorado, and the seller's own title says what it is: a Steam game account. Nothing lands in your library. You are paying for access to an account that somebody else set up and whose credentials somebody else still holds. The cheapest listing that is actually a key is € (with coupon GOCDKEYS10) at Driffle.
That distance is not a discount and never was. It is two different products sharing one page, and it is the single most common reason somebody believes they found a bargain and did not.
Why does one edition swing this much?
Narrow the board down to the Standard edition alone and the spread is still wide — same edition, same game, and the gap between the cheapest and the dearest seller runs well into double figures. Three things move it: the territory tag attached to the code, whether the shop sells its own stock or hosts private sellers, and whether a coupon applies at checkout.

Read the middle column before the right one. Gaming Dragons undercuts several larger shops, but its Trustpilot score is the lowest on the table by a distance and rests on a couple of hundred reviews; Instant Gaming's rests on more than eight hundred thousand. On a game where a bad key means an account you cannot use, that gap is worth more than the two or three euros between them.
What the bigger editions add to the bill
Above Standard the board carries two larger tiers: € at Fanatical, and € at Instant Gaming. That is twice and more than three times what the standard tier costs.
What we do not record is what each tier contains: our board keeps the edition name the seller uses, not the stash size or the perks behind it. That belongs on the seller page, and on a game where the bigger tiers are mostly about permanent inventory space it is the only detail that decides whether the jump makes sense. Worth noticing too: some of those larger listings still carry "(Beta)" in the seller's own title.
Which activation route are you actually buying?
Four labels share this one product page, and they are not interchangeable:
- Official website key — redeemed on the publisher's own site and launcher.
- Battlestate key — the same route under the studio's name.
- Steam key, North America — a different route and a different territory, both at once.
- Account — no code at all, as described further up.
The label is the only thing on the page that tells you which one you are buying, and it does not follow the price: the cheapest key and one of the dearest are both official-site routes. Read it before the number.

- Format first. Key or account. If it says account, the price is irrelevant.
- Then the territory. Global, Europe or North America — it decides whether the code goes through at all.

- Then the coupon. The prices above include it; the shop will not apply it for you.
