Xbox players have more souls-likes to choose from than most people realise, and a couple of the best cost under €4 this morning: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is €3.62 with fees and Dark Souls: Remastered €3.81, both as Xbox Keys. At the other end, Elden Ring costs more than twice what it usually does in key stores, and that's the kind of thing this guide is here to flag.
We've picked thirteen games: four from FromSoftware, five that follow its formula closely and four that mix it with something else. For each one you get what makes it worth playing, what the Microsoft Store charges, the cheapest Xbox code we track and whether today's price is a good one. If you play elsewhere, we've done the same for PC and PS5.
Xbox codes, regions and borrowed accounts
Almost every price below is for an Xbox Key: a code you redeem on your console or at microsoft.com/redeem, after which the game is on your Microsoft account for good. Some codes only work in certain regions, so check the region shown on the offer before you pay.
You'll also see much cheaper Accounts. Those give you the login to someone else's Microsoft account that already owns the game. You play it, but it isn't yours, and it can disappear if the owner takes the account back. We mention the cheapest one for each game so you know it exists, but we'd always buy the code.
A few more notes on the numbers. Microsoft Store prices are from the Spanish store and carry no fees; where we have no figure, we say so. Offer prices include each store's payment fees, and we give the coupon code when there is one. Historical figures (median and lows) are store prices without fees or coupons. And since Xbox has no comparable user reviews, the scores are Steam ratings for the PC versions.

FromSoftware's own: Elden Ring, Sekiro and two Dark Souls
Elden Ring
The open-world one, and the easiest FromSoftware game to get into, simply because when a boss stops you cold you can ride off somewhere else and come back stronger. The Lands Between are full of optional caves, catacombs and castles, and spirit summons give you help if you'd rather not fight alone. Steam rates it Very Positive, 93% of 832,711 reviews.
This is the one to wait on. The Microsoft Store charges €59.99, and the cheapest Xbox Key today is at Driffle for €36.98 with the coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€38.72 with fees). Its median in key stores is €17.50, the low was €16.11 on 26 July, and on 283 of the last 300 days it was cheaper than it is now. Difmark's shared account at €12.64 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€13.21 with fees) is cheap for a reason: it's not your copy. Set a price alert instead.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Sekiro throws out most of the Souls toolkit. No builds, no co-op, one sword and a prosthetic arm. The fights are about deflecting at the right moment and breaking the enemy's posture, and the grappling hook turns Sengoku-era Japan into something you climb as much as walk through. It's the strictest of the lot and, on Steam, the best rated after Wukong: Overwhelmingly Positive, 95% of 259,919.
We don't have a Microsoft Store price for it. Gamivo's Xbox Key is €7.22 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€8.46 with fees), and the Game of the Year Edition costs a cent less there, €7.21 (€8.45 with fees), so take that one. The median is €8.83 and it has been cheaper on only 9 of the last 304 days, which makes this a good time to buy Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice key. A shared account at Difmark is €5.62 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€5.87 with fees), too close to the code to bother with.
Dark Souls III
The last and fastest of the trilogy, set in the crumbling kingdom of Lothric. Combat is quicker than in the first game, the bosses are among the series' best, and the ending ties the whole trilogy together. We don't have its Steam rating; Metacritic gives it 90.
Right now it's poor value. Instant Gaming's Xbox Key costs €27.39 (no fees), the median is €15.50 and it has been cheaper on 298 of 328 days. We have no Microsoft Store price. Difmark sells an account at €10.91 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€11.40 with fees), but you'd be borrowing, not buying. Wait for the code to come back towards its usual price.
Dark Souls: Remastered
The one that started the wave. QLOC handled the remaster of FromSoftware's original, and underneath the cleaner visuals it's still Lordran: a world that folds back on itself, so a door you unlock hours in can drop you right back near where you started. Very Positive on Steam, 92% of 100,670.
Look at the gap here. The Microsoft Store wants €39.99. G2A sells the Xbox Key for €3.52 with the coupon GCKG2AN7C5E (€3.81 with fees), and Gameboost is two cents behind at €3.66 with the coupon GCDK13 (€3.83 with fees). The median is €4.42, the low €3.39, and it has only been cheaper on 5 of 617 days. There's no reason to wait.
The ones that follow the formula closely
Lies of P
NEOWIZ took Pinocchio and dropped him into Krat, a Belle Époque city overrun by broken puppets. The fighting leans towards Bloodborne-style aggression, and the weapon system lets you put one blade on another weapon's handle. There's also a lying mechanic that changes how the story plays out. Very Positive, 91% of 58,815.
Today it's expensive. Gameboost has the cheapest Xbox Key at €21.49 with the coupon GCDK13 (€22.46 with fees), against €59.99 in the Microsoft Store. But the median is €12.12, the low was €6.90, and it's been cheaper on 157 of 166 days. Difmark's shared account is €5.46 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€5.71 with fees), but that's access to someone else's copy. We'd wait for the code to drop.
Lords of the Fallen, the CI Games reboot
Hexworks' version, published by CI Games, gives you a lantern that lets you look into Umbral, the realm of the dead, and step into it when you need to. The two worlds overlap, which makes exploring stranger than in most of its peers, and you can play the whole thing in co-op. It's also the most divisive game on this list: Mixed on Steam, 68% of 38,043.
The cheapest Xbox Key is at Gamivo for €9.42 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€10.74 with fees). That's more than twice its €4.11 median; the low was €3.66 on 28 August, and it's been cheaper on 157 of 165 days. No Microsoft Store price on our side. Difmark has an account at €3.02 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€3.16 with fees). Hold off on the code for now.
Mortal Shell II
Cold Symmetry's sequel to Mortal Shell, the small souls-like where you took over the bodies of fallen warriors instead of levelling one character. It came out on 20 August, so it's the newest game here, and Steam players rate it Mostly Positive, 79% of 19,630.
The Microsoft Store charges €49.99. The cheapest Xbox Key is at Instant Gaming, €36.99 (no fees); the lowest we've seen for the code was €32.99 on 26 August. We only have 42 days of prices, which isn't enough to call this cheap or expensive. Difmark's shared account is €20.99 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€21.93 with fees).
The First Berserker: Khazan
Neople, a Nexon studio, built this around the world of Dungeon & Fighter, with a sharp comic-book look. It's a mission-based action game rather than an open world, and it's all about the fighting: heavy hits, parries and draining the enemy's stamina before they drain yours. Very Positive, 85% of 21,187.
A good moment to buy. Eneba's Xbox Key is €25.16 with the coupon Gocdkeys10 (€27.87 with fees), against €60.00 in the Microsoft Store. The median is €29.50 and it's been cheaper on only 38 of 192 days (the low was €21.52 on 16 July). Difmark's account costs €15.95 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€16.67 with fees).
Code Vein
Bandai Namco's anime take on the formula. You play a Revenant, a vampire-like survivor who feeds on blood, and you can swap Blood Codes to change your class on the fly. An AI partner fights next to you for most of the game, which makes it one of the gentler entries here. Very Positive, 83% of 46,397. Code Vein II came out in January; we've left it out.
Driffle has the Xbox Key at €8.09 with the coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€8.78 with fees), and Cdkeys at €9.89 (no fees). That's slightly above normal: the median is €6.89, and it's been cheaper on 596 of 807 days. There's no Microsoft Store price in our data. A shared account at Difmark is €2.51 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€2.62 with fees). Not urgent; an alert wouldn't hurt.
Souls-likes crossed with something else
Black Myth: Wukong
Game Science's retelling of Journey to the West, with you as the Destined One, a monkey with a staff and a set of transformations. It's closer to a boss-rush action game than a strict souls-like, with a long run of big set-piece fights, but the difficulty and the way you learn each boss come from the same place. It's the best rated game here: Overwhelmingly Positive, 96% of 881,914. It reached Xbox on 20 August last year.
The Microsoft Store charges €69.99. Eneba's Xbox Key is €33.74 with the coupon Gocdkeys10 (€37.19 with fees), close to the €32.00 median, with the low at €22.78 on 23 May and cheaper prices on 100 of 191 days. A normal price, then. There are two shared accounts at almost the same price, GamesPSN at €22.65 (no fees) and Difmark at €22.73 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€23.75 with fees), but either way you'd be playing someone else's copy.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Respawn borrowed more from Dark Souls than anyone expected from a Star Wars game: meditation points that respawn enemies, a lightsaber that rewards parrying, and planets you revisit once you've learned new powers. It's easier than anything else here, which makes it a good first step. Very Positive, 88% of 154,055.
This is the lowest we've ever seen it. Driffle sells the Xbox Key for €3.11 with the coupon GOCDKEYS10 (€3.62 with fees), under the €3.39 median, and it hasn't been cheaper on any of the 327 days we've tracked. The Microsoft Store asks €49.99. Difmark's account is €2.09 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€2.18 with fees), which saves you less than a euro and a half. If it's missing from your library, now is the time to buy Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order key.
Sifu
Sloclap's kung fu revenge story is short and punishing, with a twist: every time you die you come back older, hitting harder but with less health to spare. Doing a level well means mastering it, not grinding it. Very Positive, 92% of 21,689.
The key isn't the smart buy here. Gamivo's Xbox Key is €6.84 with the coupon GCDKGamivo (€8.07 with fees), above its €5.53 median, and it's been cheaper on 176 of 179 days. The Microsoft Store has it for €9.99, only €1.92 more, with no code to redeem. Difmark sells an account at €1.59 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€1.66 with fees).
Remnant 2
Gunfire Games' souls-like with guns. You shoot instead of swing, the worlds, and even some of the bosses, change from one playthrough to the next, and you build your character through archetypes. It's also the best pick here for friends: co-op for three players. Very Positive, 82% of 46,516.
G2A's Xbox Key is €10.40 with the coupon GCKG2AN7C5E (€10.69 with fees), and the Ultimate Edition is at Cdkeys for €12.29 (no fees). The median is €15.99, the low €7.00, and it's been cheaper on only 26 of 200 days, so it's a good time. No Microsoft Store price in our data. Difmark's account costs €4.53 with the coupon Gocdkeys (€4.73 with fees).
What should you buy today, and what can wait?
If we were buying this morning, we'd take four Xbox Keys: Dark Souls: Remastered at €3.81, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order at €3.62, Sekiro at €8.46 and Remnant 2 at €10.69, all Xbox Keys with fees. That's €26.58 for four games, less than half of what the Microsoft Store charges for Elden Ring alone. The First Berserker: Khazan is also below its usual price if you want something newer.
We'd set price alerts on the rest of FromSoftware and its closest followers. Elden Ring costs €38.72 with fees against a median of €17.50, and Dark Souls III, Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen are all well above what they usually cost. All four have been cheaper on most of the days we've tracked, so there's no point paying over the odds now.
