If you pay for Amazon Prime, you've been able to grab Ad Infinitum for free since 22 October. It's one of October's free PC games on Amazon Luna, which is where Prime Gaming now lives, and it arrived in the same batch as Time Travel: Escape Room Game. The copy is for the Epic Games Store, and once you've claimed it, it stays in your Epic library even if you cancel Prime later.
Amazon hasn't said how long the offer runs, so don't leave it too late.
What kind of game Ad Infinitum is
It's a first-person psychological horror game set during the First World War, made by the German studio Hekate and published by Nacon. It came out on 14 September a few years ago. The story moves back and forth between the trenches and the main character's family mansion. Critics gave the PC version 68 on Metacritic, which is decent rather than great. If you like slow, atmospheric horror, that's plenty for a game that costs you nothing.
How to claim it on Epic, step by step
- Go to the Ad Infinitum page on Amazon Luna (formerly Prime Gaming) and sign in with the Amazon account that has Prime.
- Click "Get Game".
- If you've never claimed an Epic game through Prime before, you'll be asked to link your Epic Games account to your Amazon account. Sign in to Epic and approve the link.
- Once the accounts are linked, the game is added to your Epic library.
- Open the Epic Games Launcher, go to your Library and download it.
If your accounts are already linked from an earlier freebie, you can skip step 3. Bear in mind this is an Epic copy. If you want the game on Steam, you'll have to buy it.
No Prime? On PC it costs less than €2
Signing up to Prime just for this game makes no sense. The cheapest Steam Key this morning is at Green Man Gaming for €1.58 (no fees), while Steam itself sells it for €1.99 (no fees). The key's median in our price history is €2.00 (historical figures don't include fees), so today's offer is 21% below that, and it hasn't been cheaper at any point in the 186 days we've been tracking it. There are 57 offers in stock on the page to buy Ad Infinitum key.
Prime won't help you on Xbox or PS5
The free copy is PC only, and on console the two platforms look very different.
On Xbox, the cheapest key is at Eneba: €4.05 with the Gocdkeys10 coupon (€4.94 with fees). That's 83% below its launch price in our history (€23.38) and 46% below its usual level (median €7.48), both without fees. We haven't seen it this cheap in 192 days. The Microsoft Store charges €29.99 (no fees). Key4Games has an account for a bit less, €3.32 with GOCDKEYS15 (€3.72 with fees), but an account isn't a key: you get access to someone else's account that already owns the game, not a copy on your own. For roughly a euro more, we'd take the Eneba key. Offers are on our Ad Infinitum Xbox page.
On PS5 there are no discounted keys. The PSN Key is only sold by the PlayStation Store, at €29.99 (no fees). The cheap option is another Key4Games account, €4.33 with GOCDKEYS15 (€4.78 with fees), with the same catch: the game sits on someone else's account. If you want it on yours, the official key is the way to go, and if €29.99 is too much, set a price alert for the PS5 version and we'll email you when it drops.
